Name Institution Course Lecturer Date Security refers to protection from harm and the degree of resistance from such threats(Bruce 26). It applies to vulnerabilityof valuableassets in an entity.Security in any entity has a higher profile due to reason that security risk have become complex. There are too many threats to security such as acts of terrorism, organized crimes and all this calls for a sound security operational plan. Generally, security officers are tasked with responsibility of surveying and protecting premises. They do this by either use of video surveillance or by monitoring directly. The main goal of security officer is to identify potential threats and identify who enters a premise. Asecurity supervisor has a responsibility role in an organization including provision of maintaining security and supervising security officers. Inaddition, security supervisor prepares and maintains shift work schedules, train security staff and creating a security operation plan. Todetermine a successful operational plan, security supervisor needs to identify the assets in the premise and then pay attention at the risk assessment. This involves mitigating the identified risks to organization assests.Personnel information, physical assets and services offered to third party dependencies. Security supervisor should ensure that the operational plan meets government policies, and addresses all applicable legislative requirements (Fischer, Halibozek, and Walters 19). In addition to identifying the critical assets the plan should determine the risk to these assets. When lying down the security plan activities such as designating security assessment position may prove useful. This will involve allocating each guard a designated position with a well outlined role to perform. This can involve reporting to a senior security officer. Who report to the supervisor who takes the necessary action. This action will be based on the contingency plans already prepared incase of any unforeseen threat that may hit organization. Managing the security team is essentially important and each team should know its responsibility. This will prevent chaos and facilitate delivery of service. The role of each security official, from senior officers, senior guards, guards and train guards should be clearly indicated. This will enable coordination among the team as each one will know what to do, and whom to report to (McGregor and Shiem-Shin 10). Site security survey is important to a security supervisor in outlining practical steps that need to be taken to minimize the identified risks. This been a large enterprise covering 2.5 by 2.5 km in size, there is a need to incorporate a strong physical barriers including fence, gate and protective lighting. Interior protection should involve use of interior security controls .Marking areas as restricted and controlled areas is of paramount importance to avoid visitors getting closer to designated areas. This prevents their possible compromise of the security of such an entity. Interior movement of visitors once inside the premise should be controlled and monitored. Thisparticularly can be achieved by allocating one guard to monitor visitors’ movement and activities. The concern of this security guard will be to identify any suspicious activity or behavior by the visitor and report to senior security officer. The security guards should be well equipped with up to date screening sytems. This will facilitate the screening of visitors for weapons and explosives. Visitor identification accountability system is crucial for easier identification of a visitor from an employee. The identification bagge should precisely indicate the specific areas of visitor’s interest and for how long they will be within the premises. The security in charge with visitor’s movement will be able to monitor the visitor without unneeded interference. Alarms should be available and in proper function all the time. Theyshould be designated in areas where security guards can access them easily and timely. This will prevent time wastages when there is a need to raise security alarm. Incase of emergencies there should be medical response and attention either from first aid kit, ormeans of transport to referral hospital. This can be done by use of the premise Toyota Prado. This means that the vehicle need to be in order and available all the time within the premise.Incase it is out of service there should be means of transport arranged by the management to avoid inconvenience at time of emergency. Facility layout can be useful based on the premise proper design and effective use of the environment constructed on .This is applicable when planning for security operational plan. Facility design according to(De leon and sixto 12) is more of a strategy to facilitate observation of activities going on in a premise. The strategy can be applied in this operational plan to increase effectiveness of critical area and access point surveillance .The strategy involve architectural elements like lighting, landscaping and pedestrian flow. All these facilitate clear monitoring of the activities of those inside the premise activities. The need for resources to detect intruders such as intrusion detection is useful for success of this security operation plan. The tools ability to detect when someone has entered critical areas is of benefit as an aid to the securityguard. The tool is able to determine the identity of such an individual by both facial expression and fingerprint sensing. It’s quite impossiblefor premises to work without consolidating other agencies to its security missions. Though a challenge for premises to involve other agencies the need to involve them cannot be neglected. These agencies have played role in providing training to security officers. Many of security guards owe their knowledge and skills on use of identification and screening systems to some of these agencies. Legislation is another key concern for an organization. This calls for a need to adhere to policies or else the premise is found liable of security negligence. Evacuation procedures should be established earlier and all security personnel should be trained on what to do incase of emergencies. Security personnel should be designated at evacuation routes to help move employees to safe areas. This necessitates the need for all security personnel to be trained in premises layout and on use of buddy systems and hazardous areas. Evacuation routes should be clearly marked and lit .They should be wide enough and should not expose evacuating personnel to additional hazards. A well designated assembly area should be established and all employer should be made aware of where to assemble incase of an emergency as a security measure. There is an importance of developing an emergency action plan to determine condition underwhich evacuation is necessary. A clear chain of security personnel with authority and responsibility to facilitate and organized evacuation procedure need to be established. Briefings and debriefing should be an ongoing process among the security personnel. They should be made aware of the available emergency communication channel and systems. Security personnel need to be made aware of the procedures to follow incase of emergencies. Theyshould have contacts of local law enforcements and other collaborating agencies such as fire department. These Shutdowns will have a significant effect on expenditure of Khaalas Gas premises. Main cause of these expenditures is due to budgetary implications, and this calls for incorporation of both long term and short term shutdown management plan. In this case long-term plan will contain detail wish list of major work that must be performed.an operating budget need to be constructed in order to accurately budget for such a major shut down lasting for weeks. According to (Idhammar 8) any major shutdown is scoped to an accuracy of + or – 10 at least 18 months before scheduling the shut down. This is a short term plan and is developed using long term plan. This budget plan includes smaller lists and estimates for that less costly repair. Generally a shut down like this is likely to cause more disruption because of adding them on short notice.it is important for this premise to review repair history and base the estimate of the time, materials and expensesthat occur within the project (Kallrath, 315). A quality operational plan needed to be developed since time spent in planning will directly affect finishingtime. Involving more people will affect the work output since more work is executed with fewer people. In addition, involving more people will lead to a lot of internal disturbance affecting even the repair quality. There is a need to split this number of workers to small groups and make them work inshifts. This good planning will lead to faster execution of the repair work. Underlying reason for this is fact that there is a better combination of instructions, easy access to parts, materials, tools and overall better coordination of resources. This can result to savings of up to 90% of total repair costs. Reference McGregor, Wes, and Danny Shiem-Shin Then. Facilities management and the business of space. Routledge, 1999.
