One of the winners of Malcolm award in the year 2014 was Hill Country Memorial Hospital. Background of the Organization Hill Country Memorial Hospital is located in Texas. It is a nonprofit hospital it offers general and acute services. The hospital was opened in the year 1971 with the community NIL most funds. It offers inpatient that is surgical services and general services, outpatient that is laboratory services imaging primary care among others and finally emergency services. Truven Health Analytics has named Hill Country Memorial as one of the top 100 hospitals between 2012-2014. It ranked top 10 in Texas due to its employee satisfaction. How The Organization Won The Award For a company or organization to win Malcolm Baldrige award, they apply for the award, and a judgment is made based on the organization leadership, their strategic planning, organization focus on their customers and organization market focus and how they treat their human resource, organization process management and performance results. The following are the reasons why Hill Country Memorial hospital won Malcolm Baldrige award: They engage their employees and ensure that they are satisfied, On performance, they have been able to reduce money spent on annual health care through wellness awareness program. They have been able to increase participants of patients in diabetes and breast cancer management, They have a comprehensive strategic plan, which also includes the community. Their planning process reflects on innovations based on health care and change in the market. They have a map of their strategy that portrays the community as their focus area that is service quality, finance and growth and people. They have a map posted all over the hospital to remind all stakeholders, employees and patients of their strategy. They give community their all. It has been able to provide more that 42 million dollars for charity care. Patients, who do not have insurance, use these funds. All this lead to Hill Country Memorial Hospital being the winners of Malcolm Baldrige Award in the year 2014 Task 2 Awards in Emirates Dubai quality award- this is an award was established in the year 1994 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Initially, it was meant for the private sector businesses. The main aim of its introduction was to encourage the improvement of business standards based in Dubai. This award is awarded to that company who has been able to show a reliable commitment to best practice in their business. There are eleven sectors that participate in this award. That is education, finance, health, media, manufacturing, tourism, construction among others. In this award, there is three level that is DQA GOLD, DQA AND DQA appreciation prize (cite). Assessment method Dubai quality award is based on EFQM excellence model. This model has nine criteria which comprises of five enablers and four results. What those organizations does is covered by the enablers and achievements are covered by the results. This model recognizes that many approaches can be used to achieve excellence. Excellent results can be achieved through leadership, people, partnership resources, and processes RADAR logic is the assessment framework used to provide a planned approach of questioning organization performance. It states that: Emirates government excellence program- the main aim of this award is to improve the services in government offices for the UAE COMMUNITY. It was established in 2009. This award is bestowed the government departments. Quality Assessment Methods Sharjah economic excellence award- it was established in the year 2000. It is for those organizations that are registered with Sharjah Chamber. This award is can be contested by all members, and it is used to represent an appreciation that any company can acquire. It is used to recognize the role that companies play to promote economy locally. Any organization can enter for Sharjah economic excellence award; the company must have a positive interaction with the society, their workforce must be from UAE or national students training, they must be committed to a clean environment, be ISO certified. For the companies in the industrial sector, they are judged based on their export performance, their company expansion that is horizontal or vertical, incorporation of modern technology, and utilization of local raw materials, how their products meet the international standards. Those in the commercial sector are judged base on development in the export. The benefits of winning this award are that the company gets wide exposure; they are also allowed to use the logo on their products for one year. Emirates quality mark- it is an award that was developed by Emirates Authority for standardization and metrology. Its focus is to ensure that products conform to the approved standards for both markets that are local and international. It is aimed to give the consumers a peace of mind by ensuring that a product is 100% safe for consumption. Emirates quality mark uses emirates authority for standardization and metrology standards for a company to have a quality mark in their products they need to have an accreditation. Task 3 Background Information EMW was established in 1995. In the year 2012, EMW, Inc won systems integrator of the year at ICT Achievement Awards. They are the leading supplier of ICT products and services, engineering and project management. They were recognized for ensuring that they deliver their clients project on schedule and budget. They are also ensuring that they give their clients the best solution for their business both at present and future.
