Introduction Human resources are the labour force of an organization. According to Ankur, the labour force of an organization possesses creativity, skills, technical knowhow and aptitude (2). Ankur further argues that human resources are the total sum of natural abilities, knowledge and skills that are acquired by an individual and are shown by the talents and capabilities of the individual that is employed by an organization a business organization requires an efficient work force for it to remain profitable. The main objective of a business is to maximize profits. The human resource of a business organization determines to a large extent the profitability of a business. For this reason effective and efficient human resource management is a must for every business. Human resource management is the effective and efficient management of the labour force of an organization (Ankur 2). It ensures that there is good employer employee relationship in an organization. It also ensures that the human resource of an organization is productive as intended. Human resources also deal with the recruitment of workers to an organization and administration. It is also deals with remuneration workers. Due to its complex tasks, it has to come up with appropriate policies and measures to govern its actions. Ethics and Human Resource Management Ethics are a set of values and principles that are acknowledged by a group of people. Ethics in a business organization deals with relationships between the owner (employer), employee and the customers. The training sessions will cover ethics in human resource management which are basically employer employee relationships. In order to enhance ethics in an organization, an organization must embrace certain principles. According Schulman, some of the following prescriptions may be used (1). A business organization should always obey the law. Ethics tend to be universal hence by an organization obeying the law in its business; it ensures that ethics is upheld since chances of the business offending people are low. An organization should also come up with a strategy of achieving its goals. In so doing, chances of it having sideway activities which may be unethical are minimized. The organization should also lay down its values and virtues which are meant to be upheld by everyone in the organization. Emphasis should be laid on principles of the organization rather than the rules so as to ensure that ethics are cultivated in the employees and become part of them. Transparency in an organization should be topmost to regulate hidden agendas and bogus deals which tend to breach ethics. Lastly, the organization must uphold the rights and freedoms of employees in the organization. If what provided for by the national laws is followed to the later, chances of unethical deeds are minimal since the rights and freedoms are meant to make the life of an employee as good as possible Planning In Human Resource Management Human resource planning is a process concerned with the planning of the current labour force that an organization has and then speculating about the future of the organization with respect to human resource. It concerns itself with finding the right people with the relevant qualities that the organization is seeking for effective running. Human resource planning entails various functions. According to Mayhew, the crucial components of an effective human resource plan are strategic planning, work force planning and human resource development (2). Strategic planning also involves laying down targets and goals that the organization intends to achieve within a given period and matching them to the talents, capabilities and the number of employees that are available at the organization. Human resource development is the equipping of the employees with relevant knowledge that is required by the various activities of the organization and the current markets. Work force planning is concerned with the staffing of an organization (Mayhew 2). Staffing involves recruitment, selection and employee retention. Human resource planning requires a defined process. The steps involved in coming up with a plan are; environmental analysis, analysis of supply and lastly reconciliation of data followed by the making of a plan. Practical Activity and the Assessment Test The facilitators will want the participants who will be grouped into four groups to simulate the following business organization. A theoretical organization having crisis in employment. It has changed its technology and there is a shortage of employees in the organization. The organization plans to hire soon. The organization is also facing a strain on its capability since it has so many orders to process since it is on a peak season hence workers may be overworked. The customers are also very demanding. Many of its existing employees have little knowledge on the new technology. The groups are supposed to simulate the organization and deal with the challenges it faces. The written test will have a multiple choice part and an opinion part. These methods of assessment have been chosen since they allow the participant to practice what they have learnt in a practical manner. The multiple choice test assess the choice of the participant when faced with various challenges and the opinion part give the participant to give his/ her idea on a solution to a problem concerning human resource in a business organization. Conclusion The main objective of a business is to maximize profits. Every business organization requires a solid workforce to enable the organization achieve its goals. A work force normally acts according to the way the management acts towards it. Therefore, a good relationship between the employer and employee is a must in order to get an efficient work force. There is a popular saying which says that workmen are what you make of them. Ethical human resource management is the solution to this problem. The set values and principles of the business organization enable both the employer and employee to maintain a healthy relationship. A healthy relationship leads to a happy employee hence a productive and profitable business. Human resource planning strives to ensure that the abilities of an employee are used to the organization’s advantage. A good plan should ensure that it places the organization at the best place in which it can make maximum profits yet have the best employees. A good plan always puts the interests of the business organization first and aligns them to the capabilities of the employees in an attempt to ensure that the business achieves its goals.
