The paper "Different Types of Management Styles" is a good example of a management assignment. There are various management styles that can be incorporated in different organization. This paper is basically dealing with the appropriateness of various leadership styles in different organizations. This also includes various organizational structures that are best suited therein. (Hatch, 1997) Macdonald’s restaurant is an example of these organizations. I expect this restaurant to have both authoritarian and democratic style of leadership.

In this case, the authoritarian is used to give a clear picture of what is expected of employees while democratic allows them to give their views concerning various issues therein. A democratic style of leadership is expected in a university faculty department. There are various organizational structures that are incorporated into different institutions. These structures determine the overall effectiveness of the institution or organization. A registrar’s office in a large community college is best suited to have a functional type of organizational structure.

(Ringland, 2002) This is whereby each part has a purpose in relation to helping people within and also those from outside the institution. This is the best type of structure since it will enable the office to handle many clients without necessarily following many protocol procedures. This will, therefore, help in minimizing the issue of long queues, time wastage hence overall satisfaction of clients. (Kanigel. 1997) A thorough analysis of learning organizations shows that they are best suited for turbulent environments.

This is because learning organizations train employees not to focus on the turbulent environment but to focus on the objectives of the organizations. The people in learning organizations can be described as fully awakened who strive to maximize their potential. Teamwork is an aspect that is highly treasured in such organizations. These reasons show that learning organizations are best suited for turbulent environments since they never focus on the negative. Even if the environment is highly turbulent, they always join hands and work towards achieving their goals.

Learning environments are go-getters. They pick the positive from the turbulent environment and forge on. (Kanigel, 1997) An authoritarian organization with a bureaucratic organizational structure that is competing with a turbulent market with rapidly changing technology has very low chances of succeeding. This is because the clients will not easily tell the management of their views. These issues of bureaucracy will hinder clients from reaching management. The other employees will also not open up to their bosses about customers views.

They will have fear. Such an organization will fail because of the stiff competition in the market. Customers will prefer accessing other organizations through advanced technology than queue for long to be served. The overall service in an authoritarian and bureaucratic organization would be slow. Customers will definitely shun away making the organization to incur losses. (Ringland, 2002) Any organization that has highly skilled professionals should have a democratic or participative leadership style.

Such an organization should have a culture where the professionals do not to go through a protocol to make decisions related to their job profile. An organization that has highly skilled and experienced professionals can achieve much if they are given the freedom to make decisions. One of the strategies that can be implemented in such an organization is ensuring that these skilled professionals are given departments to lead. This strategy will make the professionals champion the overall technological advancement among other issues in the organization.

A leader or a manager in such an organization has to acknowledge the input of the professionals in the organization’s success. This strategy will motivate then to do even more and generally exploit their potential. (Ringland, 2002) Organizational alignment plays a very big role in the long term success of an organization. This is because it helps in making certain that all operations are in line with the achievement of goals therein. This helps in ensuring that all the processes are efficient and effective and that the organizational structure is geared towards success.

An example of organizational alignment is where re-engineering of processes is carried out to maximize profits. Analysis of K-12 education shows that it would be on the first parameter identified by Gareth Morgan. The doctoral program would be on the fifth parameter. This shows inconsistent alignments and they result in students clearing these programs but not having what it takes. (Mintzberg, 2003) In conclusion, leadership styles and alignments of organizations need to be effectively carried out in order to experience success.

Organizational alignment helps in ensuring that all the processes in an institution are working towards the achievement of planned goals. There is no single leadership style that is self-sufficient. Managers need to incorporate authoritarian, participative and also free reign styles appropriately in order to succeed.
