Professional development Professional development Role in the team My role in the team was a team specialist. The reason is that I contributed specialized knowledge that was required to accomplish the project. My aim was to provide the required expertise in legal and ethical matters thus I fully committed myself to my field of expertise. I also ensured that the product was tested to reach out to the customers’ requirements and preferences. I chose this role because I am quite informed on matters legal and ethical matters (Tarricone, P. & Luca, J. 2002). I knew that I could be very comfortable in this area and I could comfortably contribute to the project with my capabilities to ensure that the overall project performed well. I was able to elaborate on the legal, ethical and the safety matters of the project which mainly focused on the information system. I was able to show the correlation between the issue of ethics and privacy in the information systems and indicated the recommendations of ensuring that ethics, legal and safety measures of the information system were upheld. Fortunately, my understanding of the role did not change throughout the project. The reason is that from the start, I knew that my role as one of the team specialists would be to research on matters regarding legal, safety and ethical matters of the in information system. This was the role I took up throughout the entire project and the role did not change at all. I was able to do what I do best and this led to the smooth flow of the entire project (Paul, C.D., et al 2005). Moreover, considering that every team member played their part, I think we did exceptionally well as a team. Team work is about working together and ensuring that everyone takes their role seriously and creates time for the team. In addition, every group member embarked on serious research on the allocated duty thus ensuring that the project was based on facts and previous researches conducted. This made us function better as a team. We always responded to questions that every team member came up with to the best of our knowledge to ensure that we helped each other for the best results of the team. This made the team more us stronger together as a team than if we assigned the entire project individually. The reason is that specializing in one assigned role makes room for thorough and deeper research and this made us learn about each other’s topics. This happened when we met at the scheduled time to find out the progress that each team member had made and if any team member had any burning question that needed to be addressed. In this case, I learned a lot from my fellow team members including the qualities of a good team leader. Aspects of my contribution that assisted the team in achieving its outcomes As a team specialist, I had a lot to contribute to ensure that the team achieved its desired outcomes. The first aspect I ensured that I conducted thorough research on the assigned topic. I ensured that I went to the library and read other previous research conducted on the same. I also ensured that I was keen on deadlines and set time for the group work in the time scheduled. This ensured that I was able to gain more insights into concepts that were quite unclear to me. With such insights, I was able to conduct more thorough research (Katzenbach, J.R. & Smith, D.K. 1993). The first task that I undertook was to conduct the scrum method and finished with writing the context. I then proceeded to write a precise on the monitoring and the cost of project and then finished with indicating the problems faced by team members and recommendations of preventing this in the course of the team work. This equipped with the legal, ethics and safety issues of the information system made the contribution worthwhile. I gave this project and the part that I was allocated my all thus there is nothing that I could have done differently to improve the team performance. I believe and I know that I did my best and I researched the allocated topic to the best of my capabilities. Thus, I believe that I played a crucial role in ensuring that the overall performance within the team was of the required standard since I delivered the required content. I made sure that every aspect of the assigned topic was well researched and thus the claims I made were based on facts. I did not make use of any hypothesis in all the facts that I presented to the group members thus ensured that every aspect of the claims made was based on the research previously conducted on the articles and literature that I reviewed. Thus, the material that I presented to the group was of high quality. In addition, considering that there was ample time to conduct the necessary research, I presented the required material on time to ensure that the team beat the set deadline. I presented the research that I conducted early. This was the same case with all the other group members. The main reason was to ensure that we reviewed the final draft of the whole project before we made our submission. From this experienced, I garnered a lot of lessons that will come in handy during the individual project in the final year. One of the lessons is that nothing comes easily. This means that to get the required good results, one has to put more effort in their work. This was evident in the way every team member in the group took time to research on the allocated topic to ensure that they came up with high quality product. I also learned that there is no one that knows everything. Everyone in life requires some help or another at some point in time. This was evident in the way each of the team members came up with issues that they did not understand and required the help of other team members to make them understand. Thus, even in my final individual research, I will make sure that I seek for the help of the teachers or classmates on the research topic that I will be conducting. Presentation The presentation that I gave went quite well more than I expected. Initially, I had some jitters regarding this presentation though it went quite smoothly (Braunfeld R, & Wells,O.T 2011). I knew that my presentation went well due to the feedback given to me by the team members. They indicated that I have really improved on my public speaking skills and that I would not have issues with my final presentations in the final year. This made me feel very accomplished considering that I have always had the fear of making my presentation in public. I feel very enthusiastic about it because I now know that with a few polishes, I will be on my way to making the best presentation in my final year. In addition, I gave honest feedback about the presentation made by other team members and on the overall project as a whole. Thus, I feel very contented with the project as it is and I feel that I have really gained a lot from the year long experience. Overall, the response given on the product during the day of its demonstration was accurate and appropriate. Many of the audience that witnessed our demonstrations were thrilled by the project. They indicated that this was one brilliant and well though out project that they had seen that day. This was appropriate considering the effort each team member had generated towards the project in ensuring that the project run smoothly as expected. We conducted a mock presentation and demonstration among ourselves before the actual presentation day to ensure that we ironed out any arising issues. This made us familiarize with the entire project making it easier to present and demonstrate during the product demonstration day. This was one reason why the whole project was a success for my team (Brodzinski 2014). Moreover, the quality of our team’s product was one of the best presented in comparison to other team’s products. Again the main reason for this high quality product was the extent of hard work and commitment that every team member embarked on to make this entire projects a success. Lastly, I have recorded a lot of progress in relation to the learning outcomes of this module. First of all, I am now more familiar with the application of the design methodology to meet the required specification. This is evident through the first task that I conducted in the group-work. Undertaking and successfully completing the allocated topic of the project also enabled me to make appropriate use of the time management and reporting. I also conducted a systematic approach to data gathering in a professional manner thus enabling me to reach the set outcomes of the project. Moreover, considering that my specialism and the part that I greatly contributed to was concerned with legal issues, then I have also progressed on the research and application of an appropriate legal issues in a project (Wyle 2012). I have also been able to maintain a record of work including this reflective analysis that will become part of my reflective diary. Thus, this project has enabled me to overcome a lot and learn a lot more that I did not know before the project. Bibliography Braunfeld R, & Wells,O.T. 2011. Intellectual Property.
