Gradually, as it began to be applied in wider paradigms of modern businesses, various beliefs and dimensions were added to the concept, intended towards its better application as a strategic resource (Quintas, Lefrere and Jones, 1997).

Rather, on the contrary, such transformations led to greater complexities in the application of the true essence of KM raising challenges for its users, as it had become increasingly dependent on the readiness of the organization to adapt to these changes (Ho, 2008; Gold, Malhotra and Segars, 2001). One of those consequent deceptions that have raised challenges for KM applicants is its perceived direct association with profitability and organizational efficiency, which is nonetheless, been gifted by the gap in academic literature studies (Hovland, 2003).
