WORK, MANAGEMENT PROJECT MANAGEMENT Introduction It is important to highlight that this paper delves inthe discussion of project management in a manufacturing firm or company. In most cases, it has always been noted with a lot of concern that most of the tasks that are conducted are either projects or operations. Another important factor that is worth highlighting is that this is an area that has been widely studied by several scholars. They have come up various definitions of the word project and in relation to this,.

It is therefore described as a trans-disciplinary study which tends to cut across many disciplines by looking at the makeup of a phenomenon and determine g the effects of the given phenomenon based on the variables that have come into being (Hamilton, 2004). In the first section of the paper therefore, it is very much important to state that the paper will dwell on the relationship of the various components. This will trend to relate the activities based on how each activity is needed to facilitate the completion of another activity.

This interlink is therefore well discussed below (Hamilton, 2004). Question 1 It is important to highlight that activity A requires the obtaining of machine A. machine is also very much vital in the production of component 1. The obtaining of the machine will take a span of 2 days. Activity B is however required in the obtaining of component 2. It is important to highlight that theses two activities are very vital in the project manufacturing in the sense that the machines that are needed in the activities are very much essential in the first assembly.

Activity C is on the other hand dealing with the obtaining of machine C which is used in the production of component 3 and 4. This component is however a constituent of the second assembly. Component 2 can similarly be produced by activity E they are hence substitutes for each other (Hamilton, 2004). Activity D as well is very essential in the making of component 1. This will take a span of 2 days. It is important to highlight that this component can similarly be produced by activity A which deals with the obtaining of machine A.

it can therefore be clearly noted that the first activity (activity A) and activity D can work in place of each other given that all of them give rise to the production of the same component as the final output. Activity F on the other end deals with the making of component 3. This is a component that is part of the second assembly. The second assembly component is also obtained through activity C. the two activities are therefore interdependent in their output (Hamilton, 2004). Activity G is on the making of the final test gear.

This is for a span of 20 days. This activity depends on all the activities that have been discussed before. This is because it involves the final assembling of all the components of the apparatus within each activity for it to effectively and efficiently operate. Activity H is on the testing of component 3. It is important to highlight that this activity fully depends n activities F and C. this is because the final output from the two activities is what is tested by activity H. this therefore means that the activity wholly depends on the two activities (Hamilton, 2004).

Another activity that is as well worth discussing in the project is activity I. under this, it is important to highlight that the activity majorly involves the testing of component 2. It is very much vivid and can be explicitly noted that component 2 is an output of activities B and E. it can therefore be noted that the activity as well depends on activity B and E as it only tests what has been produced from the two activities. Activity J is also having relationship and dependency with certain activities in the project.

This is because the activity as well tests on component 3.this is an activity that is also done by activity H. it is therefore quite obvious that this can be a substitute activity for activity H. the activity also depends on activity F and activity C (Hamilton, 2004). Activity K on the other hand deals with the sub assembly A. it is important to highlight that this sub- assembly is an item in the second assembly. This is very much dependent on the component 3 and so activities F and C which give rise to component 3.

Activity L is the final test for the final assembly. This depends on both first assembly as well as the second assembly. These are all realized through the accomplishment of all the activities in the project management. Activity Mon the other hand is concerned with the making of component 4 and it takes a span of 8 days. This is related to activity C. It therefore means that the activity is depended upon by activity J. activity N on the other hand tests on component 4 which is generated from activity C.

Activity O again is concerned with the sub assembly B. This is a component in the final project that is combined with component 4. Activity Q again is on the making of the final assembly. This therefore calls for the incorporation of all the activities that are ideal in the project exercise (Hamilton, 2004). A project manager can therefore can therefore best use the activity floats in the effective execution of the project in a very efficient way in the sense that the manager can decide to use the extra time that arises in the case of the early completion of the work especially in cases whereby the other components are outputs that are given by other activities.

The time can be devoted for other modifications and adjustments in the project management for the efficiency of the whole project during operations. Below is a chart showing the resource chart (Hamilton, 2004). Question 2 This deal with development of an aircraft for the defense department having been given the time limits and estimates for the completion of the project concerning the. The project should be very much quick given that there are penalties on late delivery of the whole project.

From the given weeks for thr completion of each activity, it can be noted that each activity requires the following periods and this is based on the variances that have been calculated from the formula shown below (Hamilton, 2004). Variance= (the highest number of weeks) – ( the lowest number of weeks ) Activity Period of completion {weeks} A 8 B 10 C 10 D 4 E 0 F 34 G 12 H 10 I 16 J 18 Considering the time span of each activity and the deadline f the completion of the project to evade the penalty from the defense department, it can be noted that the estimated, approximated and most appropriate period of the completion of the project is calculated as shown in the formula below (Hamilton, 2004).

Time= Ʃ x N (where Ʃ x is the sum of all the weeks for each activity while is the number of activities involved in the whole project) This can therefore be calculated as = {122 ÷ 10} = 12.2 rounded off as 12 weeks This can therefore be perceived to be 12 weeks and therefore: 1 week = 7 days .’. 12 weeks =? = (12 × 7) =84 days Given that the number of days required for the completion of the task is 100 while the estimated number of days from the arithmetic shows that the project can be completed in 84 days therefore is quite promising and this is an idea that is for an optimistic person who always hopes for the best in every operation that he or she makes.
