The Effective Management of Time Introduction It is important to highlight that this is research paper that delves in the effective management of time. Time is a very precious gift that should be effectively and efficiently utilized as it is a scarce resource that is also highly valuable. This therefore calls for the need for various students who are in colleges and other institutions to effectively plan and make schedules for the various activities that they plan to sort out or involve themselves in during the studying session in schools or campuses. It is important to highlight that the best way to effectively manage time while in colleges is by having an effective and well outlined and detailed schedule for all the plans and activities of the day (Mancini, 2005). Below is my weekly calendar and schedule that encompasses all the programs for the whole week ranging from classes through the study times to any other activity. Day Morning Afternoon Evening Monday classes Group discussion Games Tuesday Classes Group discussion Debating club Wednesday Classes Speed tests Games Thursday Classes Library day Peer Counseling Friday Classes Group work Games Saturday Fellowship Visiting Friends and Relatives Internships Sunday Personal cleaning Practical in the laboratory Internships Statement of the problem In the article “Why college students are studying less”, it is important to highlight that the students were given the question and they gave several opinions concerning the matter. According to the article, it discusses this as a falling trend in the universities that requires a faster measure in combating. I the discussion therefore, it is important to highlight that the student reasons for studying less were clearly discussed. Other students said that the universities were kind of in business world of marketing. By this they meant that the campuses were promoting themselves as places that were manly used for recreation and not learning. This therefore, made the other people to yearn reaching to these high institutions of learning just to have fun like the earlier fellows who were enjoying themselves instead of taking their time to concentration books (Tom, 2006). It is also important to highlight that certain improvements have as well contributed to this reduction in the study in the various universities. Under this case, the students gave reasons that the advancements and improvements in the level of technology have been the factor behind this kind of laxity in the universities. They argue that many students are not thinking as the inventors but rely on what had been invented band innovated to find solutions. This is therefore making the student to find them relaxing and spending much of their time in non-academic issues and affairs either within the campus or away from the campus (Patrick, 2013). Technology is the mother of innovation but not the solution to reducing laziness. This laziness in campuses has been brought in because of the internet networks as well as the word processors. These have led to the students not researching very much but just getting all they want at the touch of the term in the name of desk research. Another category also gave an answer that they study less because if the internships and attachments that they have. These are sessions that the learners are out of school learning session and they are attached I various places to show the knowledge of whatever they have been taught. This therefore consumes much of their time given that they have to balance the duration with the time that they are supposed to learn and finally graduate out of the campuses (Tom, 2006). In the comparison of the student learning ages, the research shows that the average period of learning that the students who were in the 1960s studied for a period of about 24 hours but currently, this has dropped and the students study for a period of only 14 hours. All these are areas that need high levels of rectification as the students need to grow better in terms of knowledge to enable them deliver effectively and efficiently in their carriers that they are pursuing in the various colleges (Richard, 2008). Time management outline It is important to highlight that time management is a vital skill that most of the people tend to be conversant with because of the need. There are various skills that are considered to be effective in regards I respect to the management of time. I this situation therefore, it is in order to prioritize and make a list of all the plans of the day that in he or she sees himself or herself in undertaking. This would be therefore very key in this therefore calls for the essence of having a notebook with you. The importance of the notebook is that during the down times such as when you are resting or driving or even swimming, you can recall or think of an idea and then you note it down at such times (Patrick, 2013). Another better way of managing time is by avoiding carrying forward activities in the name of procrastination. This is actually the thief of time and can seriously lead to one wasting much time and not doing what would have been done. This therefore calls for the need for one to concentrate on one task at a time to avoid being exhausted that would probably make you to push for various activities. It is important for an individual to actually set targets and deadlines for the time to accomplishing study activity or assignments. This would make you to work towards that thereby effectively utilizing time as preferred. After the duty or the activity is done, it is therefore quite in order to remunerate and reward yourself for the time appropriate time utilization (Tom, 2006). Time management research It is important to highlight that time management is an area that has been researched by several scholars to come up with ways that would make people to effectively utilize their time effectively without any waste of time. Research proper time management requires that one gets to have all that is programmed for in writing and a record o the activities as they are done to determine the time that has been spent in one activity and the time that has been spent in the activity. Time difference is therefore very vital as it make one to make adjustments accordingly. It is also important for the people to value time and show how precious it is. This will make them to realize that every second counts and that it should not be wasted (Mancini, 2005). Conclusion In conclusion, it can be clearly stated that the level of student learning is dwindling and becoming weak. This will therefore translate negatively in regards to the work force that will be there in the future. However, it is important to highlight that I managed to follow this time management schedule and I benefited from it so much. I was able to meet all plans for the day without any failure and by the end of it I excelled in my studies. Owing to the fact that I am a routine person, I managed to stick to this plan of programs all throughout the term and I saw its benefits. In the changing for the time management plan in the coming term, I will simply reduce the internship by one and reduce the games time from 3 hours to 1 hour 30 minutes in the respective gaming days (Patrick, 2013).
