Management Management and Leadership in General Electric General Electric is one of the organizations that have thrived in the business market through the deployment of effective management practices within its business environment. The management pattern in General Electric reflects the pattern suggested in the management theory. The management theory suggests that the success of any organization depends on its ability to develop dynamic and flexible management systems that comprehensively involve the organization at its all levels.

In General Electric, they have employed a dynamic management practice by having “healthy disrespect for history” which points out to their ability to correct their past management mistakes and to adopt new one that meet the changing market demands (Griffin 54). The management practice in General Electric is comprehensive in the sense that it takes care of both the management team and the employees and seeks to inculcate modest organization behavior within the organization. The success of General Electric emanates from its ability to operate within the provision of the management theories.

The classical management perspective deals with the organization operations that seek to improve the employee productivity. In this company, classical management perspective is evident in the way the organization emphasizes on the employee efficiency. In General Electric, all employees are expected to acquire extra learning to facilitate their work efficiency. Any employee who does not acquire this kind of learning has no future in this organization. In the behavioral approach, the organization provides motivation for its employees.

For instance, the organization was the first to implement the pension and profit sharing schemes within the work environment (Griffin 54). Contingency management aims at reducing wrong management practices and reinforcing the strong management strategies. In General Electric, they have always had a healthy disrespect for wrong management practices. For instance, CEO of this company has engaged in business innovation in an effort to change the weak management practices in the organization. General Electric has embraced the value of management science approach to define their business success without having to embark on quantitative approaches.

The CEO states that the scientific approach of management helps the organization to increase customers focus at a much lower risk. The major reason why this organization has successfully deployed this method is due to their efforts to streamline their operations using customer friendly methods. For instance, the organization has embraced the green technology in their supply chain management to develop services that are more eco-friendly (Griffin 55). This is one the ways in which the organization has sort to attract its customers into their business operations.

Secondly, the organization has streamlined its internal business operations as one of the ways of increasing their efficiency in customer service. GE is one company that emphasizes the value of leadership within its company. The company aims at building professionalism within its operation by creating leaders who understand effective business strategies and who have an innovative approach to customer focus. The organization has started a school, Croton Ville where over 9000 employees acquire management education (Griffin 55).

The main aim of the GE CEO is to promote leadership by providing effective management training programs. He intends to create leaders that understand the market factors, have value for customers and who can innovatively design workable business strategies. This effort of the CEO to create effective business leaders is in tandem with the management science approach that he has deployed in this organization. Creating leaders is one of the strategies that help to increase worker quality rather than quantity and reduce inefficiency in the organization.

This is a less risky approach of developing business efficiency and creating customer-value within an organization. GE Croton Ville leadership campus is one of the colleges located in New York that allows students to acquire leadership and management courses. The organization is open for new students, working staff and the employees of the GE Company. Those employees who intend to attend the course must pay for them and have to acquire their free time to attend the lessons. With this college, GE intends to provide opportunity for organizations to benefit from the value of effective leadership within their organizations.

As leaders are the drivers of innovation with a business, effective leadership provides an organization with efficiency and creativity that is necessary in the contemporary business environment. The GE Company keeps its business strategies a secret and does not release them to the students of management in Crotonville campus (Griffin 55). The reason why this information remains private is to avoid possible competition, as this is the business secret that GE has used to differentiate in the competitive business market.
