The ways of living, communication, working and especially business have completely transformed. The biggest influence area of the information technology emergence is business management. Presently the business sector has completely changed to offer the customer as well as vendor, better working environment and operational structure. This report presents the detailed analysis of the Michelangelo Pizza’s new information and business management system. Michelangelo Pizza is a huge business. Presently the management of the Michelangelo Pizza has decided to develop and implement a new business management system that could effectively manage handle and operates the business operations. The aim of this report is to assess the effectiveness of the new business system implementation regarding competitive marketplace and system data flow design. This report will also suggest the system development methodology and key stages in the management of this project. 2- Porters 5 forces The main intention of this section is to analyze the impact of information systems development and implementation at Michelangelo Pizza business. This section will show how Michelangelo Pizza business would be able to gain a better competitive advantage in the business. The technique that will be used for the analysis of information technology system implementation is Porter’s Five Forces Model. Figure 1- Five Force model: Source [http://articles.bplans.com/business/porters-five-forces/119] The five force model is discussed below in relation to the Michelangelo Pizza business (Berry, 2009): No Porter five forces Explanation for Michelangelo Pizza business 1 Existing competitive rivalry between suppliers. Presently the business of Michelangelo Pizza is operational using the traditional and manual approach. The existing competitors in the market also trying to capture the market place by any means. In this scenario new information system implementation at Michelangelo Pizza business will offer the business to have a better control over business operations, products and martial handle, ordering and customer management. Through these advantages the Michelangelo Pizza business is expected to take the lead in the overall market place. 2 Threat of new market entrants New businesses in the market are always trying to come out and dominate the business market by implementing new technology and enhanced services. In the scenario it can be assesses that Michelangelo Pizza needs to access a new market place and develop a better and enhanced business policy and effective business support using the new technology based structure implementation at Michelangelo Pizza business. 3 Bargaining power of buyers New information technology system implementation will potentially reduce the expenses regarding the business operations management and the processes from order creation to delivery. This will offer some extra margin to Michelangelo Pizza products. Buyers always require some bargaining for the business. In this scenario we need to maintain prices of goods and services at appropriate level as compared to business competitors. Michelangelo Pizza business will be more capable in reducing the products cost and development delivery time that will offer the customers to have considerable less product cost. 4 Power of suppliers The new information system development and implementation at Michelangelo Pizza business will control and effectively manage the outside suppliers and their demand and supply to business. This will also enhance the power of supplier to effectively and efficiency deliver the products to the business at right time and place. 5 Threat of substitute products (including technology change) The adoption of new information and business management technology will minimize the threat of substitute business product. By the establishment of effective order and delivery system, the product delivery time will be effectively managed as well as minimized. This will offer the business to have a better competitive edge on the related business competitors. 4- Dataflow Diagram 5- System development methodology This section will suggest the system development methodology for Michelangelo Pizza. This system is a huge system that involves development of various departmental modules. The system needs to be developed according to needs and requirements of the concerning departments. The main departments are: Production Control Manufacturing Stores Accounts Sales Shipping Purchasing In case of new business system development and implementation we need to assess and gather all the necessary requirements from all the concerning departments. In case of complete business, working, usability and operational requirements we will design and develop the system. However in case of less detailed, poorly defined and hard to gather requirements we need to select a system development methodology that incorporates a step wise system development approach. In case of the Michelangelo Pizza business system we have only a partial set of business needs and operational requirements. In this system user view about the system working, user interface, usability and handling. Here we have only a small set of business and working requirements. On the bases of these requirements we can start the project development with any traditional system development approach. Here we need some evolutionary system development approach that offers the system developer to develop the system in some evolutionary step based approach. In this scenario an extensive research is performed and it is concluded that “Spiral system development approach” will be most appropriate for this type of businesses (Sommerville, 2004). Michelangelo Pizza business system software development methodology is related to spiral model for the development of the overall system. In this way in this software development methodology we do not need of huge working staff as compared to system size, because we break the system into small workable functions (Pressman, 2001). This software development methodology is composed of iterative nature of the prototyping and systematic aspects of the linear sequential model. This software development methodology provides potential for development of incremental version of the software. Michelangelo Pizza system development using this methodology can have series of incremental releases of the software system. Its early versions are designed to take more and better requirements from the client (Pressman, 2001). This type of software development methodology is usually implemented for the medium to large projects. Mainly this software development methodology is best for the system those are huge, complex and all requirements are not available at the stat of the project (Sommerville, 2004)and (Pressman, 2001). 6- Project management Michelangelo Pizza administration has decided to launch a new management information system. This system is aimed at enhancing the overall business performance and handling. This section will offer a deep insight into the main system development project management of Michelangelo Pizza business management system. The overall stages of the system development of this project will be similar to traditional project management. However the internal operational steps will be altered according to system way of development. The below headings elaborate the system development project management stages: 6.1- Understanding the project environment In this project management stage we have following two stages; 6.1.1- System requirements In this stage system analyzer will take the system development requirements from the customer. These requirements will be gathered about business operations, working needs, handling structure and data sharing. The main tool or technique here can be user interview, survey, questioner, or observation. 6.1.2- System analysis This stage will involve the analysis of the system needs and requirements gathered. System analyzer mainly assesses the system feasibility to erasure the successful system implementation. 6.2- Project definition In this project management stage we have following stage; 6.2.1- System design In this stage system designer will design the system and will assess if the system is following the main needs of user and working staff. Here we have two types of system designing. Hardware and software based system designing. 6.3-Project planning In this project management stage we have following stages; 6.3.1- Cost planning After system designing of hardware and software we will plan for the cost that will be spent on the system development. The financial manager and consultants analyze the system size and cost. Here cost and benefit is analyzed regarding system implementation to business of PIZZA. 6.3.2-Resource planning In this phase, hardware and human resource are planned. Here we deploy the appropriate human and physical resource to overall project development. HR manager will assess and assign the resources. 6.4- Technical execution In this project management stage we have following stage; 6.4.1- Development/Coding At this stage we will code the system and develop it for its effective implementation at the Michelangelo Pizza business. 6.5- Project control In this project management stage we have following stage; 6.5.1- System testing and quality assurance At this stage, we will test the system for ensuring the system quality by making its bugs free. System tester and quality assurance staff will ensure the system quality. 7- Conclusion Information systems have turned out to be an essential part of every organization or business. In this report I have presented a detailed analysis of the business management system for the Michelangelo Pizza business. I have outlined main system development advantages, development methodology and project management approach. I hope this report will offer a deep insight into overall business and its IS development. 8- Bibliography Berry, T. 2009. Porter’s Five Forces.
