Risk Register Summary In this paper I am going to present the detailed risk analysis of the on site soil contamination with chemicals. Basically we are working on a construction stage of a building project; during this project we have got the signs of the dangerous chemical. So we have decided to conduct a detailed risk analysis regarding this scenario. Introduction This research is aimed to conduct a detailed risk analysis of the on site soil contamination. We have basic scenario; Our project of building was on construction stage, and some time after the reduced level excavation had commenced an operative on site approached a foreman complaining that not only were his wellies leaking, but when he had taken his socks off that evening (he had kept the wellies on all day) his feet and lower legs were covered in a rash, similar to one he had found on his hands.

The operative thought that there might be some chemicals in the soil he had been digging in. The foreman has raised the matter with the site agent, who has asked an engineer from head-office to come and visit the site. Subsequent investigation has revealed that the ground is contaminated with chemicals. As the main step we are against this serious issue is the removal of all soil that is approximately 1500 m3, to a licensed tip some 20 km distant. But here we have a issue regarding the use of this soil; it was planned that this soil would be used for landscaping purposes.

So this was the whole situation that we are facing, here in the section below I will carry out the detailed analysis of the whole situation to access the real problem and main risk situation regarding the site workers and nearby areas. Risk here we are surrounded through lots of risks regarding the overall project management and administration. The main risk we are facing is regarding the process of overall construction. Due to this problem our workers health is at danger. In case on any incident the overall process will stop and we can face the project delay and failure.

These risks can affect our project purpose also. Here we have to complete the project on time and within allocated budget. If we delay the risk handling regarding this project the there is chance of significant delay, because lot of workers will deny working on the site. So we have to handle this risk to save our project purpose. Here we have the objectives to keep our project on schedule and complete this one on time. So any delay due to some land contamination can affect the project schedule and objective.

Stakeholders of this project are the workers, project manager, project owner and nearby residents. This project will facilitate the all stakeholder regarding the risk free working and handling. Response As seeing the whole scenario we have to handle the whole situation in a better way, for this reason there is a need of effective planning and enhanced management of the resources. First main action or step we have to take is regarding the allocation of the effective resource, budget and time for actions.

As a project manager I have determined the overall situation a find out that this task will take $ 25000. Here we need 10 days extra for the site clearance and starting the working again. The main point in this whole scenario is the approval of the ownership for this project. For this purpose we will conduct the meeting with the overall management and present the risk report and main hazard reports. This meeting will spot light the major health related issues regarding the on site workers.

After the approval we will have to monitor report and review overall project and responses. There is need for the regular soil laboratory test so that we can access the current contamination of the land. Figure 1 Risk assessment stages [Source: http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/static/documents/Research/devguidev1_1155225.pdf] Assess Focus of the management attention is really necessary for the better project handling and management. Management has to pay attention for the removal of this risk; otherwise this risk can affect the overall project working and handling.

Here we have to allocate sufficient resource and budget so that we can handle this risk as soon as possible. There is also need for the better planning and strategy. The prioritization of the key risks is really essential, in this way we be able to handle the whole scenario in a better way. Like the first we will prioritize the stopping of all works on the site, and then we will conduct the detailed lab analysis of the soil. After that areas we will got more contaminated will be removed first and the less contaminated areas.

After the completion on area we can start the work on that site so that we can meet the deadline. Qualitative evaluation In the Qualitative evaluation of the land contamination we will collect soil samples that would be later handled in a way intended to save the integrity of the tests for qualitative ground examination and laboratory study. All obtained tests will be molded by means of means of hygienic latex gloves. If qualitative ground examination of the soil tests shows that pollution expands to the water table, a gives groundwater example(s) can as well be gathered.

Quantitative evaluation Assessment of possible pollution sources, resettlement routes and responsive receptors appropriate to the location.  A theoretical model is equipped and the location is zoned on the base of each at hand and chronological infectivity sources prior to a qualitative ecological hazard evaluation being started, slotting in advice for additional actions, if necessary. Risk Register In this section I will present the risk register of the overall project. First I will present few basic parameters regarding the risk register.

For the risk Likelihood Rankings I will use the below given scale Likelihood Rankings Likelihood rankings 1 Rare Probability less than 2 percent 2 Unlikely Probability less than 5 percent 3 Possible Probability of 5 percent to 50 percent 4 Likely Probability 50 percent to 90 percent 5 Almost Certain Probability of 90 percent or more For the Consequence Rankings I will use below given scale Consequence Rankings Risk regarding environment, safety, Health 1 Insignificant Extremely minor health effect Or small effect on local environment.

2 Minor Small health effect Small Local ecological impact 3 Moderate Health effect of more than a minor nature Danger for the few individuals Local environmental impact 4 Major Serious injury and incapacitation Local environmental impact Long term 5 Catastrophic Risk lead to death Permanent disablement Wide spread environmental effect Below I have presented the recommended proceedings for grades of harmful risk Ranks/Grades Risk alleviation/ mitigation actions L LOW Risks should be recorded Monitored Controlled Health and Safety precaution M MEDIUM Mitigation actions Reduce the seriousness of effects Appropriate actions for the identified risk Actions at the Faculty or departmental level H HIGH Very reliable mitigating actions Continuous monitoring E EXTREME On site working stoppage All working action termination Effective action Reliable mitigation sources Continuous monitoring Health standards implementation Risk Register The risk register is given below: Template Source [http://www.ljmu.ac.

I have tried to streamline the whole project risk in a way that their analysis becomes easier. I have presented the risk register and the main risk their mitigation and severity. I hope that this report will help to manage the project effectively. Work Cited 1. David Hillson. Practical Project Risk Management: The Atom Methodology. Management Concepts.
