Section I Son 2-Part-time employment 3-College friends 4-Middle 5-Muslim 6-Apartment location 7-Urban community Section II 8-Class-fellows 9-Diversity celebration 10-Open-mindedness I like to meet with open-minded people. Currently, I experience the true sense of life and have opportunity for knowing and understanding the different perspectives relating to people belonging to different shades of life. For example, after meeting some of people, I realize that they welcome and celebrate diversity and they want to talk about the different important issues. This is unique experience and the most significant thing for me as this type of advanced thinking has been largely unfound in my origin country (Qatar). As a result, this gives an opportunity to improve my personality and adapt to this diverse culture. Section III Introduction Professional demeanor remains central to branding. Professional demeanor refers to a commitment to a certain code of behavior which is commonly found in some subcultures. For example, dress code, a certain communication style and behavior is mostly followed by those individuals who are employees of a formal organization where a hierarchy or chain of command is followed and each employee is required to professionally follow all the rules and regulations relating to dress, work type, job description and other parameters which are essential for completing the requirements of the organizational role. In the following parts of this paper, first professional demeanor is elucidated within the work context. Subsequently, the college context has been applied to the professional behavior; and it is followed by the section detailing the friendship circle. Before the conclusion part, both positive and negative aspects of personal branding and personality issues along with personal branding have been detailed. At work Dress code remains an important part of the organizational subculture. The dress code enables me to identify myself as a part of the organizational subculture where we share similar values, perspectives and commitment towards achieving the organizational objectives and missions as well. For this purpose, I need to follow the dress code and wear the specific type of dress code. This specific nature of subculture attaches me with a larger community or group in a particular manner. For example, based on this dress code and as part of the organization, I find myself attached with the core professional values of the organization. In this regard, it is worth highlighting that the requirement of a specific dress code directly supports my perspective relating to the professional demeanor. More specifically, I prefer to follow professional rules, beliefs, values and customs that are highly essential for obtaining the objectives of group expectations. At the same time, I do not find myself to be coerced by the dress code instead the workplace environment is so congenial that I do not find anything that is different from my own perception relating to the professional demeanor and outlook as well. Communication skills Formal, polite and ethical and verbal and non-verbal communication skills reflect my personality. In a typical organizational set-up, it is highly essential that a subordinate is required to talk, communicate and share organizational information in a formal manner with a person who is higher in the rank. More clearly, he or she is not required to overstep the communication line which may constitute a gross violation of professional demeanor. For example, ethical behavior is important as it reflects one’s comprehension relating to values and customs which are central to any subculture. As far as my communication experience is concerned, it is appropriate to highlight that I vehemently prefer to follow formal rules and regulations as they are developed in a way to ensure the integrity of the organizational subculture. At college Attitude towards assignments strategies I always prefer to give college presentations in a formal and professional manner. Causal dress is commonly worn by college students even in those assignments where a student is required to give lecture or give presentation about a specific topic. For me, this is tantamount to aberration as it is not in line with the required type and level of professional demeanor. For example, the main objective behind any presentation is to prepare students for professional employment life in which they are mostly required to attend various meetings with clients and they are required to give presentation so as to develop a long-term business relationship with the clients. In this regard, it is important to mention that such presentations have a considerable significance for the organizations as they view them an opportunity to understand the clients’ expectations and requirements. As a result, keeping this view in mind, I do not undermine the current college presentations; thereby, I prepare myself by keeping in view the long term perspective and objectives of such presentations. More specifically, I try to be a professional presenter while presenting myself in such college events as this enables me to polish my communication and professional skills in a professional manner. Social circle Social media provides a platform for communication and self-promotion (Dijack 199). Thereby, social media provides a good opportunity as I find myself as extrovert. I prefer to make new friends through online and offline interaction with a number of people. For example, I tend to go outside with my friends almost every weekend. This experience is unique as it provides an opportunity to talk and share personal experiences relating to important aspects of life. In such gatherings, I always try to talk about those things and methods that have substantial effect on my personal, professional and social life as well. For example, I love diversity and respect all values, customs, traditions and perspectives which are common in today’s world. More specifically, I always endeavor to those values which are common in humans and only humanistic values are and should be given more priority to other social or religious standards. It has been observed that religious values and customs are always preferred to other values. In my opinion, this should not always be the case instead human values and human dignity should be supreme as this will unify us against the common threat of extremism and terrorism. Recently, we observe terrorists, who have no religion and who have no respect for humans and human values, are trying to affiliate themselves with the religion of Islam. Being a liberal and broad minded Muslim, I totally reject this perspective as this religion has nothing to do with today’s terrorists. Moreover, even these terrorists are maligning the religion of Islam because Islam does not promote or support violation, terror or intimidation in any form against anyone instead it supports human values and holds humanity at the top most level. Furthermore, I prefer to develop friendship with students and people from different walks of life as this enables me to understand and know how subcultures, values and traditions work within their own psychological and geographical areas. In a nutshell, I always try to explore newness inbuilt in different religions, subcultures, traditions and customs. Positive and negative dimensions of personal branding Personal branding brings closer to today’s modern reality of life. Personal branding enables one to understand and adapt to those values, customs and professional interactions which have become the heart of today’s social and corporate life. For example, this branding has helped me understand myself through the prism of today’s values. Previously, I did not much care about the professional demeanor and values instead I carried out tasks works in a rough manner. However, after coming to the United States, I experience a considerable positive change in my demeanor, thinking and behavior. This change has directly affected my perceptions about modern life and its closeness with the actual and required type of life. More clearly, this progressive life pattern has considerably reshaped the personal branding. On the contrary, there are some negative aspects relating to personal branding as well. For example, it requires adaption to every corporate and social value which is considerably difficult to retain. More specifically, person like me, who has not passed much time in the United States, it is highly demanding and challenging task. However, good thing is that it is not something that is negative but it is something that needs to be learnt and that will be learnt soon as such professional demeanor and practices are closely attached to my understanding relating to today’s way of life. Personality issues and personal branding Personal energy is a highly essential source for satisfying the different requirements of personal branding. For this purpose, I always try to motivate myself for obtaining such objectives. Motivation is important tool for obtaining the desired level of energy and support for personal branding. For example, I have joined a gym where I exercise as this enables me to reduce stress besides increasing my energy level. More importantly, personal branding cannot be achieved without giving much introspection. For this objective, I always try to learn new things which are highly essential for such activities. For example, I give suggestions to my different friends about their choices that they are about to make on important issues of their lives. More specifically, I apply the concept of empathy as this gives an opportunity to understand and face the situation in a more realistic and professional manner. In a nutshell, there are various social and professional skills that directly or indirectly influence on personal branding. And my effective and professional strategy is to read, learn and apply the best available strategies so as to attain the objectives of personal branding. Conclusion Professional demeanor is the most effective way to attain and retain the objectives of personal branding. At work, I always try to follow the formal, polite and ethical methods that are highly essential for satisfying job role within the organization. In this structure, dress code, organizational communication skills and understanding and application of such rules are highly vital for maintaining professional demeanor. At the college, professional demeanor is also demonstrated through giving presentations by keeping in view the main objectives behind such college events. Similarly, within the social spectrum, I identify myself as extrovert as it provides me an opportunity to interact with people coming from different social and economic backgrounds. Socially, I always try to learn those social and personal standards which are generally followed and practiced by common people. And only through this adaption, I would be in a better position to understand and learn more about personal branding and explore those areas which have not been explored till this point of time. At the same time, I always try to help others through providing them the best piece of advice.
