Understanding and Knowing Yourself Key strengths related to potential employment options Leadership This is one of my greateststrengths that I have used in several circumstances and events. Consequently, reading books and some modern literature have helped me in improving on my strengths. Creativity I am a creative individual and seeking new alternatives to solve problems is always my ambition. Creativity has helped me become an outstanding individual in my field of study and various engagements. Ideally, I always employ the art of creativity to introduce new ideas that can ensure efficiency and effectiveness. While working as an intern in an electricity station, I managed to introduce new steps in checking the electrical devices and instruments within the organization. For example, I developed an automated model that determined if there were faults in the system. I have tried to improve on this strength by ensuring that I constantly and progressively provide solutions to problems and dealing with inefficiencies. An area that needs to be developed Taking control and being assertive are some of the areas that require attention as I move through my career journey. Working as a civil engineer is marred by certain complexities and a person needs to take charge and push the ideas that are crucial for success. My desire is to become assertive in every instance by proposing solutions and ideas that provoke positive outcomes. Being timid and less assertive cannot make an individual succeed in different situations. To achieve this, I intend to participate in many events and read some books that provide directions on how people can be assertive and take control of situations as well as circumstances. Work Values, Motivation, Drive and Energy Achievement: this is one of the most important work values that have acted as a driving force towards the achievement of success. Employment of my strengths helps me to feel good about my work and ensure success. Whenever I am choosing a career, the key determination is to establish the extent to which I can achieve in a particular area. Working conditions: the working conditions are the fundamental determinants that motivate an individual to work in a particular place. When the working conditions are excellent, the desire to work in a particular setting is enhanced. Moreover, minimum wage is a significant consideration in choosing a career. Civil engineering sometimes requires that people work in risky environments. The wages must be commensurate with the amount of work and the risks involved. Essentially, if the work environments are not improved, it is difficult to work in a particular setting. Independence: autonomy is a crucial component that allows people to work with relative comfort and ease. I am a self-driven individual and do not require supervision to complete my assignments. Consequently, I can supervise my work and make adjustments whenever necessary. If an organization allows employees to work independently, that would be a great working environment. Support: all employees require their leaders to stand with them and motivate them to be productive. Consequently, an organization must provide all the necessary tools that are needed to accomplish the tasks in a firm. When an organization stands for the employees and supports them in every dimension, the morale of the workers is boosted. I wish to work in an environment where all the support needed by an employee is guaranteed by the management. If the antithesis manifests in a workplace, working in such a setting would not be tenable. A significant achievement that demonstrates my drive energy and motivation to achieve a goal While working as an intern in an electricity station, I managed to develop a system of checking faults within the setting. The organization has always used the manual methods in determining electric faults whenever there is a problem. I employed by creative ability to come up with an alarm system that would ring whenever there was a breakdown in the setting. Relating to others Working in a team to achieve a task While working as a volunteer in the local community, we managed to complete our assignments as specified by the authorities. The assignment was to distribute some food materials to those who are poor and disadvantaged in that community. Even though the people to be attended to were many, we were able to accomplish the tasks in time and with utmost excellence. A situation where I dealt successfully with a difficult person The electricity station where I worked as an intern assigned us some duties that were supposed to be performed within a specified time frame. I was the leader in the department and was supposed to supervise the other two interns. One of the interns did not like taking instructions or meeting the deadlines. I talked to him as a consequence of understanding his issues. He intimated that strenuous tasks were stressing to him.
