The 21st-century sweatshops might have some improvements like fire alarms but they still have poor working conditions such as poor ventilation. In the 20th century, managers locked doors during working hours to prevent theft and this is still happening in sweatshops today. Low wages are still an issue in the 21st century as were in the 20th century with most of the workers being immigrants.

Few people in the 21st century know that poor working conditions still exist in sweatshops, so they do not bother questioning them. However, some activists still care about the working conditions in the sweatshops for example the anti-sweatshop activism. In the 20thcentury, there were associations such as the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) and the Women Trade Union League (WTUL) (http://www.ilr.cornell.edu/trianglefire). People protested and demanded justice and action that will protect the garment workers.
