Wendy considers its people to be most valuable asset and key to their overall success and growth. The company has enhanced its CSR activities through organizing wonderful kid’s adoption program. This program comprises of 194 full-time adoption recruiters and works in collaboration with foster care children across Canada and United States. They are also centered towards providing healthy food to all customers along with ensuring environmental sustainability. Wendy’s have a board of registered dietician who provide required information on health and nutrition. The company ensures environmental sustainability through incorporating best practices which reduces impact on environment. Wendy is more concerned about people and believes in giving something extra to stakeholders apart from offering superior quality food choices. This organization serves local communities and takes active measures to minimize any form of societal issues. On the contrary, the Subway system is inclined towards providing healthier and tasty food choices. The company attempts to reduce environmental impact and structures effective programs for local communities. Sustainable sourcing is one of the corporate social responsibility activities undertaken by the company. It maintains a strict code for vendors and streamlines supply chain activities. Safety standards and high food quality are maintained by the organization and they are involved in reducing water conservation, energy utilization, etc. They even serve local communities through large number of donations and sponsorships. Subway is an active participant in context of extending support to educational institutions and local charities. Step Two Wendy’s and Subway forms a major part of the food industry. The companies are actively involved in providing superior quality foods to customers. Nutrition and health standards are taken into consideration while manufacturing food products. Environmental sustainability is a common approach adopted by both the companies. There are different practices adopted by the firms in order to enhance environmental sustainability. Environmental friendly practices are common for both the organizations. They are actively indulged in reducing level of water or energy conservation. This is an important corporate social responsibility approach and it needs to be focused on by all companies. However both the companies have initiated different programs so as to ensure that their business goals are well aligned with stakeholder interests. Wendy’s take into consideration people’s interests through designing community based programs where local communities are provided with extended support. They have even started a foundation program where children are taken care of by the company’s staff. This company does not entertain more of donations but are inclined towards structuring community based programs. Subway is also known for its corporate social responsibility activities. The company has not started any community based programs but work in collaboration with people to gather donations that could transform lives of local community. In overall context, Subway undertakes active measures to ensure environmental sustainability and well being of local community. Both these companies differ in their corporate social responsibility approaches. On one end, Wendy is highly concerned about people and considers them to be a valuable asset. On the other end, Subway is indulged into incorporating sustainable environmental practices. Step Three The Wendy’s Company performs different types of corporate social responsibility for helping the society and people. The company has adopted many children for providing foster care. Wendy’s takes various initiatives for raising funds for those needy children. The firm helps these children by reducing their wait to get adopted by families. This social responsibility of the company is highly praised by its customers. As per the customer review of the Wendy’s Company this program has a huge impact on child adoption program of the world. Subway gives donations and charities to various needy people. But people have not given much positive opinion about this. They believe Subway is not effective in performing g this CSR activity. The Wendy’s Company puts a huge effort in sustainable development of environment (Jan and Witte 79). Its customers appreciate the process of this company to use renewable resources. The firm follows different strategies for doing loss water consumption. According to some of its customer this activity of Wendy’s will help future generation in various ways. Subway also performs similar activities for sustainable environmental development. Customers are also happy and satisfied with the company’s efforts of managing electricity properly and saving it. Wendy’s and Subway both provides a good quality of food to its customers. The foods have high nutritional values. Therefore this helps customers to maintain good health. The customers give a positive review regarding this. Many of the customers say that by consuming Wendy’s or Subway’s food they feel more healthy and fit. Some customers say that by consuming subway food they feel fresher. Step Four According to the reviews of different customers subway is not properly following charitable programs. Maximum customers review does not match with the things written in Subways website. Needy people do not get proper benefit from Subway’s charitable programs. The track record of this company is not good. But the Wendy’s Company performs very effective types of charitable service. Customers have given a very positive review about the CSR activity of the company. They are highly satisfied with child adoption process of this firm. According to the customers Wendy’s follows almost everything what they have written in their website regarding child welfare program. Customers of both Subways and Wendy have provided positive review about the nutritional and healthy food product. They are satisfied with the food products both of these companies are offering. Majority of the customers agree that both of these companies perform almost same things that they have mentioned in their website. But some of the customers think that that quality of food which the companies offer is not same as they have written in their website. As a result they form a negative impression about these companies regarding their CSR activities. Customers in different online sites have given many positive comments about CSR activities of Wendy’s and Subway’s in maintaining environmental sustainability. The customers said that as the companies have mentioned that they are trying to save energy and properly managing environmental waste, they are performing their works effectively according to their statements. Step Five Corporate social responsibility is usually considered as an approach to build a strong corporate image. Different companies have their own way to build up this image. There are various ways through which a brand reputation can be developed based on corporate social responsibility activities. For instance, in this study Wendy’s way of exhibiting these practices are completely different from that of Subway. Their level of sincerity towards these approaches can be well analyzed through responses of stakeholders or online reviews. Wendy’s efforts towards protecting young children and providing them with a shelter home are greatly acknowledged by wide base of customers. They are serving local communities and also adopting effective measures to minimize societal issues. Nutrition and health standards which are focused on by the company are not maintained appropriately. It can be stated that profit oriented motive has been primarily focused on by the company and later their dedication towards offering high quality nutritious food. To be more precise nutritional aspect has been ignored by the company and it has been just highlighted to gain attention of customers. Customers are usually more concerned about food quality and this forms a major loophole in corporate social responsibility activities of the company. Subway encompasses CSR activities that are aligned with enhancing common interests of stakeholders. Community development is not encouraged by Subway but there is more focus towards environmental sustainability. This organization believes that shareholders, employees and special interests groups can be attracted only through implementing effective environmental practices. These practices according to Subway govern their business operations and help to accomplish long term business objectives. Step Six This study deals with a thorough analysis on Wendy’s and Subway’s corporate social responsibility activities. These companies have adopted wide array of innovative approaches in its organizational system. Subway has gone forward with environmental sustainable practices so as to safeguard external environment from harmful business practices. Their CSR approaches revolve more around building a strong corporate image in the market place. On the other hand, Wendy’s has incorporated an effective system to facilitate corporate social responsibility activities. This company is not only focused on local communities but even implement practices to protect external environment. Amongst the two companies, Wendy’s can be stated as the most socially responsible company. This organization over the years have not only enhanced their business practices but even developed vital programs for local communities. Online reviews for CSR activities undertaken by Wendy are positive in comparison to Subway. Hence Wendy can be stated as more socially responsible organization. They work in collaboration with local communities to structure programs that can benefit society. Environmental regulations are properly followed by the company since they are using recyclable and renewable energy sources. This activity is usually not observed in any other food company since in that case there major objective is to acquire high profit margins. Wendy is retaining its market share along with extending required help and support to local communities. It has achieved mark in designing and implementing CSR activities across the globe.
