Management of Hospital after Merging Introduction Kerzner explains that in business, merging is important since it enhances improved offering of services to the customers. In this case, merging of the two hospitals will lead to an improvement of services offered to the patients. Improvement of services is because the charges charged by the hospital will increase significantly. It will be a great honor to if bestowed with the position of a manager of the newly merged hospital. It will be my role as a manager to facilitate that the hospital continues to offer high-quality medical services to the patients.

As a new manager, I would choose planning to guide me in the management of the hospital. In any business or an organization, entity that focuses on growth and offering quality services to their customers planning is essential (Kerzner, 2013).DiscussionAccording to Kerzner, (2013) planning is one of the basic management functions; it involves the use of the available resources to ensure maximum production of goods or solving of peoples wants and needs. Planning ensures maximization of the resources available for production.

Additionally, it ensures that the economies of scale are optimized to ensure growth of the organization. Since the merging brings together two entities with different philosophies and way of doing things, planning will be essential to adopt them into our ways of doing things. Additionally, we have to absorb some of the staff who was working in the small hospital. Absorbing the staff can only be possible through effective planning (Kerzner, 2013).Further, Johnson (2013) stated that planning ensures that our goals are clearly set to prevent any conflicts of interest in the newly merged hospital.

I will ensure that the goals outlined clearly by writing and follow up to ensure, all the responsible people work hard to ensure the realization of the goals. Additionally, it can come up with a proposal by which the hospitals goals are pinned on all notice boards of the entire hospital. A goal also doubles up as the objectives of the hospital. Objectives are the laid down principles that act as a guide to every organization success. The success of any organization is measured through; the achievements are compared to the set goals.

After the merger of the two hospitals, my main goals will include. To increase the number of staff, to start an expanded laboratory facility and to come up with a new registry that will be holding all the records of patients and their affiliates.Secondly, planning shall be essential in my efforts in setting down of strategies that the hospital will be using to handle the escalating number of patients who will be being served (Johnson, 2013). The strategies will include seeking for more supply of medicine and also other needs of patients.

Strategic planning is vital in the hospital. Without a strategic planning, the hospital may remain as it was before the merger. The facility will stagnate instead of developing to cater for the escalating number of patients seeking treatment.Through a well-stipulated planning formula, I will be able to implement all the goals that we have set as the hospital. It will also enable me as a manager to implement the policies that the hospital had put in place before the merging (Johnson, 2013). The set rules to be followed by workers, patients, and the entire hospital community will be implemented through a responsible planning.

The growth of the hospital after merging, will not happen abruptly. It is a process that will take steps to be accomplished (Johnson, 2013). Additionally, the steps must follow an order of priority. Firstly, I will ensure that there are enough hospital beds and medication for all the patients. Later on, I shall follow up to ensure that more buildings are erected to house the increasing number of patients. Lastly, through a good planning good communication will be established at all levels of the administration and the patients.

Communication is essential in to enhance providing better services to the patients. In the case of any problem or staff who doesn’t work well for the patients will be held responsible for their acts. Through communication, such people will be cautioned to stop their actions or else they are reprimanded.ConclusionIn conclusion, planning will be vital in our hospital. Fruits of the merging can only be seen if a well-choreographed planning is carried out. Planning will serve as the backbone of our hospital’s success.

However, as the manager of the newly merged hospital, I cannot be able to work alone. I have to work with other departmental heads of the hospital to ensure that a good planning is done (Johnson, 2013). Additionally, I would seek the services of other professionals to help me in planning.ReferencesJohnson, V. T. (2013).
