id Interview a manager Company Coca Cola is a multinational company of America. This company produces non alcoholic beverage. The company was founded in 1886. It operates its business throughout the world. It is one of the largest brands in beverage industry. It has enhanced its global presence through its various types of soft drinks. The company has more than 250 bottling partner throughout the world. Different types of strategies and plans and policies are adopted by the company for its growth and development. The company has divided its business in many departments which helps it to run its large scale operation smoothly. In its long journey Coca Cola has done many mergers and acquisitions which have contributed a lot in the growth and development of the company. The firm operates its business through franchise distribution. It only manufactures the syrup and then sent it to various bottling partners. In many places the company itself owns many bottlers. Introduction to Manager Manager is an important person of an organization. He plays a vital role in planning and directing works to its subordinates. He develops important strategies for growth and development of the company. Under his guidance the company performs vital tasks. The manager has the power to hire and fire employees working under him. He has the authority to judge the performance of its subordinates and give promotion to them. He is the person responsible for administrating and controlling the functions of the organization. A company has different types of manager’s accordi9ng to its divisions. One of the famous managers of Coca Cola is Brandon M. Buchanan. He is with the company for past 17years. For past 1year 3 months he holds the position of District Sales manager of Coca Cola. Discussion Brandon M. Buchanan feels pride for working in Coca Cola. In 1996 he joined the company. Now he holds the position of district sales manager. It is a large store in Phoenix, Arizon. As a manager of this store he has to execute sales for generating more revenue. He supervises different promotional activities of the store in Arizon district. It helps to influence the sales figure of that region. He plays a vital role in developing the market for the products of Coca Cola through building community relationship. One of its important job responsibilities is to train and develop its subordinates for achieving the goals and objectives of District Sales Team. He assists its team members in innovating and developing new business plans and opportunities. Brandon M. Buchanan set up and delivers profit and budgeted volume at the time of executing yearly divisional plan. He has a huge contribution in negotiating different contracts. He evaluates the performance of his subordinates. The operational budget of field sales is managed by him. He is also responsible to develop customizes business plans according to the need of customers. According to Brandon M. Buchanan his subordinates highly rely on him. They expect that as a manager he should guide them. He should act as a leader and inspire the staffs to attain their business targets. The subordinates has an idea that the managers should supervise and inspect the in store arrangement and display of the product and let them know about necessary changes. The manager should be impartial in judging the performance of the staffs. Employees depend on manager in getting assistance for their job and receiving effective training from them to handle difficult situations. The staffs also expect that manager should analyze beneficial plans for the development of store and according to that he should allocate works to its subordinates. He has a vital role in maintaining good relationship among the employees and with the customers. The major challenges and stresses Brandon M. Buchanan faces in many situations some of its employees creates problem in accepting changes which are requires to implement for improving business operation of the stores. He has to make those employees convince to accept those changes. By discussing with the employees about their problem regarding to those changes he had to make them understand about the benefit of those changes. He has to take the initiative in arranging customized training to its employees according to their problems. One of the major stresses of this manager is to maintain positive attitude even in the worse business situation. As he holds an important position in the company so always he has to justify his position by his work performance. A large number of employees work under Brandon M. Buchanan. Looking after their job satisfaction and improving their performance sometimes become difficult to handle. He does not have any dislikes regarding his job. He is extremely happy and satisfied with the job. The best thing he likes about the job is Coca Cola allows him to use his own ideas in making different important business decisions. This has influenced him to use thematic display which is very creative. Brandon M. Buchanan also won contest by building creative display. He likes this motivational approach of the company. The managerial job of Buchanan enables him to possess a strong impact on its team member. By his job he has been able to help merchandiser who wanted to grow in sales. The small effort of manager has influenced them to flourish their business and achieve success. His job in Coca Cola has allowed him to meet a large number of people through the world. Brandon M. Buchanan has learned many things from them and implemented in the business which contributed a lot in his success and growth of the company. As per the manager Brandon M. Buchanan average managers and top performing managers are different from each other. Good performance satisfies the average managers where managers who are top performing want exceptional results. They won’t get satisfied with only good results. Top performing managers believe that they have the responsibilities to change the business process for improvement of organization. They are not necessary the leaders of the company but they become very famous after achieving difficult goals. Average managers tend to work as per the company rules and regulations. Their risk taking capacity is low. As a result average managers have less contribution in innovating new business steps. They follow the present business process and tries to maximize it’s their work performance on the basis on existing business process. Top managers have a long term observation capacity. They do not blame anyone for their failure. This type of manager critically examines the cause of their failure and makes strategies to overcome them. Many types of skills and knowledge are required for the job of manager in Coca Cola Company. Managing sales is one of the important things. Being a district sales manager he has to look after the entire sales process of Arizona district. There are many issues involves in conducting sales activities of the company. Skill of sales operation is required for this job. Revenues are generated by effective sales operational process. Many employees are involved in operating sales. Therefore high skill expertise is required for managing those people and increase the sales figure of the company. Skill of merchandizing helps to increase the effective of manager’s job. By appropriate knowledge of merchandising the manager is able to select vendors, suppliers and distributors for growing its business. The knowledge of Account management is very much important for the manager. Managers have to keep record all the financial matters going on in the business. As a district manager he has to keep and maintain records of all the financial transaction in that area. He has acquired all these skills thr4ough his learning process and long time experience. Coca Cola has also guided him in improving and enhancing those skills. The greatest mistake of Brandon M. Buchanan is once he has made a wrong calculation about sales figure. He had presented a sales figure to the company which was very much different from the actual sales figure. As a result the company had to face a mismatch in its data. Initially he did not understand his mistake but after few days he analyzed all the records and gets to know about the actual sales figure. Then he realized his mistake. At the time of this incident he behaved badly with some of his subordinates. When he found that the mistake was from his side he felt very ashamed of this work competency and bad behavior. He could have avoided this mistake by becoming conscious and more attentive while calculating sales figure. Summary In this report Brandon M. Buchanan has described his experience in Coca Cola as a District Sales Manager. He is with this company for a long period of time. The company has helped him to grow. Different skills, capabilities and knowledge of this manager have contributes a lot in the growth of his career. He always maintains a positive attitude and motivates his subordinates in achieving the goals and objectives of their job.
