Green Initiative and its Sustainability Introduction Green initiative refers to a form of creativeness invented by an individual, group or organization in order to conserve the environment. The innovation needs an assurance or hope for sustainability. Some Green initiatives can get sustained in some regions but not all. Therefore, as an innovation is made, the projects sustainability must play the central role in decision-making. The Green Initiative sustainability refers to possibility of continuity of a project.

A projects profitability depicts its sustainability. More profitable projects call for continuity and unsustainable projects demands for dissolution. As a manager, I would not implement a worthwhile Green Initiative that reduces profitability of my organization.Green Initiative’s profitability When a Green Initiative does not improve profitability, it can only mean that it will only deplete the organization’s resources in the long-run. The main objective of an organization being profit maximization would as well conflict with implementation of a non-profit-making project.

Therefore, as much as the Green Initiative has importance, profitability overrides the initiative. I would only implement a Green Initiative that reduces the organization’s profitability, in order to improve the organization’s image. When I realize that the organization’s image has been tarnished by the ay-to-day activities, I will set out to improve the image. Through corporate social responsibility activities like offering employment opportunities to people within the community the organization is located.

I would implement a Green Initiative that does not improve the net profit of the organization because of the stipulated government policies, organization’s ethics and anticipated profits in the long-run. Additionally, if the Green Initiative has a great potential of increasing the organization’s profits after its implementation I would take the risk. If also the government policies demand for such Green Initiative adhered to (GPI, 2012). I would also undertake the initiative if the organization was facing a risk of dissolution from the activities of competitors who engage in similar initiatives or other initiative that threaten the continuity of the organization I manage.

Since most Green Initiatives in the long-run result in profitability, undertaking one in unavoidable circumstances can prove worthwhile. In several occasions, the Green Initiative that result in negative profits result from less strategized project research that overlooks the risks that the initiative will face. Whenever a great opportunity exists, risks must exist. Therefore, I would undertake a feasibility study, involve my team of employees on brainstorming on the most applicable methods to implement the initiative and then write a game plan that would instead lead to increased profits in the long-run.

Green Initiatives that would enable the organization to reduce its operation cost include; electronic messages and gadgets to pass messages and during meetings. As well, reduce usage of environmentally harmful products like plastics and metals. Also, the organization would have to treat its sewage before releasing it out. The organizations participation in calling for tree planting initiatives would contribute much in leading a Green Initiative (GPI, 2012). Since the organization uses papers in its day-to-day activities, leading a tree planting initiative would ensure steady supply of paper at all times.

Knowing the effects of plastic and metal to the environment, minimized usage of products that lead to bulk disposal of the waste reduces environmental pollution. If using of such products is inevitable, the wastes needs to be separated from decomposable wastes and sent to the recycling companies. Most recycling companies reward individuals, groups and organizations that practice environmentally friendly activities. Therefore, practicing environmentally friendly and acceptable activities would in the long-run profit the organization.
