Corporate culture is necessary for achieving business successThe changing market dynamics makes it necessary to align the business strategy with corporate culture, in the direction of achieving success. This requires the companies to follow the policy of having an open culture, while working with other collogues inside the company and interacting with the external stakeholders. The exchange of ideas by having such cultural policy helps in implementing the company strategy in an efficient and successful manner.

This acts as a catalyst in achieving the better coordination with external partners by assuring them of the company’s willingness to maintain the costs, while following the highest quality and safety standards. While culture and its definition remains a debatable topic, culture helps in formation of an excellent bond among the employees, as it pertains to their common beliefs and values. This makes culture a tool to achieve competitive edge in the business, as employees’ behavior towards each other and external partners decides the level of success for the particular business. In the current business scenario, corporate culture has direct association with the employee engagement and experience. However, it is essential to build an organizational culture that remains the driving force of the customer value proposition by supporting the strategic business objectives. This results in achieving the competitive edge in the business.Culture and strategy alignmentOrganizations adopt different value disciplines that include operational excellence, product leadership and customer intimacy.

After identifying the value discipline which an organization wants to pursue, there is need to build the organizational culture that supports the specified discipline. The cultural value discipline of an organization can be determined by comparing factors like flexibility with stability and external orientation with the internal one. Accordingly, the value discipline should be measured in terms of four components of culture. These include clan, hierarchy, market and adhocracy. Companies that need to achieve leadership in market should focus on building the culture that requires aggressive marketing and customer satisfaction, as the top priority.

The strategy of achieving product leadership involves building of culture based on adhocracy, which involves entrepreneurship and risk taking abilities. Building the culture based on hierarchy is the need of those organizations that follow the discipline of achieving business success by following the company values for operational excellence.(Chopra)Factors responsible for building corporate cultureThe structure of an organization refers to the manner that the particular business follows towards its functional departments, businesses and reporting procedures.

For example, a company would benefit from changing its reporting structure to adopt the safety and other norms to suit customer requirement. This will need a company culture that values these norms.Leadership helps in driving the business culture, as the behavior of proven leaders becomes an example for other employees. Creating entrepreneurial and competitive culture requires leadership skills, which span from taking risks to making quick decisions in order to achieve the desired results. Similarly, the development of adhocracy culture requires product innovation in a competitive business environment to achieve its commercialization successfully.
