Eventually, Mr. Leonard resigned and but his implementation of a centralized form of operations and management resulted in massive losses due to high inventory (Taiwans Rampaging Dragon, 2014). Mr. Shih decided to reintroduce decentralized management and operations where each unit autonomously developed their innovations.

The decentralization of operations led to a drastic reduction of the inventory level and further reduced the time frame for the introduction of new products in the global market. The organization was completely re-engineered in terms of the processes, organizational culture and philosophy (Taiwans Rampaging Dragon, 2014). Acer introduced the client server organization philosophy which came under scrutiny when Mike Culver an Acer’s employee in the united states decided to create the first home computer.

In line Acer’s philosophy of client server and decentralization, Mr. Shih supported Culver’s project by facilitating synergy of the product development activities in the united states and component manufacturing in Taiwan. The project was completed within a period of nine months. This project marked the first actual realization of client server philosophy where an individual from the company conceptualized an idea which was later transformed into the company’s successful project (Taiwans Rampaging Dragon, 2014).
