 SAP is poised to remain as a key German company that has gone global and it specialises in production of enterprise software that are used to manage business operation as well as customer relations. The company has set up offices around the globe and this means the company plans to remain an individual company that is multinational. The company specialises in one line of products and this is one of the major factors that make it a force to reckon with at an international scale. The company’s major competitor is an American company; Oracle Corporation which also specialises in production of business enterprise software products.

The fact that the company has a wide market potential around the globe, establishing other production and distribution bases is an alternative solution (Denton, 2002). If the company is interested in becoming a global company with various branches operating in other countries, the management must first learn about the new markets. It can engage in a merger and acquisition strategy with companies that are already established in these countries to ease in penetration and lower the cost of establishment.

The company can also engage in a franchise strategy where it allows another companies or businesses to operate under the company’s name and offer its products. The latter strategy is favourable for establishing business in countries with challenging business conditions or unique challenges in market penetration. The company can further engage in production of more than one product so as to establish different portfolios in relation to product line and to expand on customer base (De Kluyver, 2010).
