Project teams are usually developed to execute work on a given project. Project teams normally encompass several experts from different areas of disciplines who are assigned to perform different tasks during the project’s implementation process. Additionally, it is uncommon for one member to be assigned more than one task, in the project. Therefore, problems usually arise when two tasks need to be performed simultaneously. It usually happens that a person within the organization or team is assigned to execute a specified function to avoid incurring extra costs. These individuals are normally picked from the team personnel to complete the project as planned. However, a single project can lead to underutilization of available resources since it even relies on resources that are currently, not under use (Pinto, 369). Team members in a given project are afraid to issue out their resources since they believe that it will be difficult to recover them. Similarly, sharing resources can create a delay in multiple projects. Finally, there can be a decrease in employees’ morality as they attempt to juggle through competing assignments (Pinto, 371). Approaches used to allocate resources include mathematical programming, first in line, greatest resource demand, and minimum late finish time. Read More
