Management and Planning Investor Relationship - Admission/Application Essay Example

 After getting my bachelor’s degree, I was privileged to join one of the largest firms in South Korea, Hanmi Pharmaceutical (Hanmi). In order to fully utilize the knowledge and skills I’ve acquired from my disciplines, I became a part of the Management and Planning team as a Manager for Investor Relationship (IR). This position has given me the chance to manage the relationship of the business organization with foreign investors and bestow my skill in managing people under me. As the manager for IR, I was tasked to introduce Hanmi Pharmaceutical to potential foreign investor capitalizing from my English language skill, charisma, and public relations skill.

This involves contacting potential investors, organizing and giving presentations about the company, and preparing conferences in Hong Kong and Singapore four to five times annually. I was also tasked to manage the relationship of Hanmi with its pool of current investors by updating them of the company’s performance and informing them of the company’s future directions. In order to efficiently undertake all these tasks, the IR department was allocated an annual budget of $40 thousand. Being a manager of IR did not limit me to investor relationships alone but also gave me the chance to contribute to the company’s planning and management.

Together with my other team members, I became involved with the development of short term and long term management goals and company analyses. With the advent of technological revolution which changes the core business processes, we have also examined the feasibility of a paperless work system in order to improve efficiency and reduce costs. My passion and zeal for my job were rewarded by accomplishments. During my leadership in the IR, the stock price of Hanmi rose by 150% attributing to the aggressive effort of the whole business organization to maximize shareholder value.

At the same period, company sales revenue and COSPI mounted by 25% and 20%, respectively notwithstanding the difficulties encountered by the whole industry. Hanmi was also awarded the “The Most Valuable Stock” and included in the “Top 10 Stocks in Korea” during my work period. It was really overwhelming for me as I was the one who laboriously prepared the data and reports for the evaluation. Aside from these accomplishments in my career, I could proudly say that my stay at Hanmi Pharmaceutical had instilled in me a deeper sense of responsibility and commitment.

I have learned the greatest lessons in life such as accountability, credibility, dealing with diverse individual, and the capability to smile even while under pressure.
