Abstract This is a paper which looks at the management and leadership as applied at Apple Corporation. Apple Inc. is best known in the global perspective for software technologies and computer development. What is more, it is also acknowledged for its hardware products for instance iPod, iPad, and iPhones. In the present day, Apple Inc. is amongst the biggest global firms that has esteemed technology. Earlier than attaining its present global rank, the company has taken a long time described by appropriate planning and management. Marketing is the concluding approach used to endorse the selling strategy for products such as the iPhone 4s. Marketing has then been cleverly practiced at the company to encourage its business. With this understanding, this paper critically examines Apple Inc. and the application of PESTEL analysis. Introduction In any given business organization, management is something which should be done in the right manner possible, and this should be able to integrate all elements of management and functions as well. This becomes a defining application which has the capability of improving performance and ensuring that business goals have been realized within the shortest time possible. For instance, within any strategies of management, it should be appropriate to adopt a number of practices, theories and organizational adoptions which have the capability of improving performance of business organization. In this study, it would be necessary to understand the issue of leader and management and how they can be viewed and adopted towards ensuring that the greatest gains have been realized in the business organization. Different organizations have been able to come into terms with such approaches, and hence they have been in a position of realizing the greatest gains within their business operations. This paper shall thus study and establish how management and leadership have been adopted at Apple Corporation. Apple Corporation: Leadership and Management At Apple Corporation, there has been the engagement of the best of practice in leadership, and such has also been done through the application of the major leadership and management functions which have been able to promote business performance (O’Grady, 2008, p. 38). This kind of leadership and organizational responsibility has been something very significant for the business, and as well has been able to bring a new wave of promotional engagement which has been seeing an improvement in the business engagement thus leading to the realization of business goals. Basically, Apple Corporation has been able to improve its business engagements, and hence becoming one of the best performing businesses in the economy of the country. There has also been an effective modality in decision making which has been vital towards the realization of business goals. Management and leadership ideologies have been adopted in the best manner thus leading to the realization of goals within the business (Wharam, 2009). In that sense, it should be worth noting that the best of gains in any business shall be only be in line with the kind of engagement of management and leadership which have been adopted in the business (Gill, 2006). It would thus be very appropriate to study the kind of engagements which have been adopted in this business and see how it has been able to become a perfect performer in the business. Management and Leadership: Apple Corporation At Apple, there has been the need of ensuring that all business engagements have been appropriately led and managed towards the realization of the best business goals. In that sense, it should be necessary to apply all management functions as this has the capability of ensuring that the best of gains have been realized in the operations of the business. However, there should be the need of understanding that there are a number of differences between management and leadership (Rost, 2004). In management, this is a wide conceptual approach which borrows into it four major functions, and this include leading, planning, mentoring, and controlling. However, there should be the need of noting that there are some other adoptions which might be adopted for the business managerial processes. Management is in itself a combination of very many functions which should be adopted depending on the kind of business (Singh, 2004). On the other hand, leadership is a single function within management procedures, and in that sense it adopts the moves of motivating individuals within the business organization, showing them the way forward, and also ensuring that they have been given the appropriate mentorship from the leader who acts as the role model. At times, leadership would require the application of a number of approaches such as decision making and pioneering positive activities within the business so that the greatest gains can be realized in the very end (Gitman & Carl, 2009). In that sense, at Apple Corporation, there has been the appropriate engagement of positive leadership and management which have been appropriate in the realization of goals within the operations of the business hence becoming one of the major industrial players. The aspects of management and leadership are very important because they ensure that goals have been easily realized within the business. In all leading businesses the whole world over, there has been the need of engaging in different approaches and activities which have the capability of improving performance, and this ensures that everyone has been defined into a duty which must be executed and by so doing make it easy to realize the best of business goals. This has been the major trick which has been making the Apple Corporation to realize its business goals and objectives. This means that such an adoption shall has well be defining and fruitful for any given kind of business. Roles of Organizational Managers and Leaders Generally, any business engagement and organizational structure that there are well defined duties of for leaders and managers, and such should be adequately performed so that the eventual goals of the business can be realized (Brienza, 2007, p. 25). At Apple Corporation, this has been greatly performed so that it can be possible to realize goals in production, customer relations, and also promote marketing (O’Grady, 2008, p. 57). Basically, there are roles and responsibilities that organizational managers and leaders should be able to play in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture. In that sense, it would be the greatest duty of managers to begin by setting the engagements within the organization, and such should be able to define the major roles of both the stakeholders and clients of the business. To begin with, the first approach should be having a well defined structure which presents the managerial hierarchy, and this is very significant as it ensures that business goals have been appropriately designed for the realization of managerial adoptions and engagements in the business. Another important role of managers is in ensuring that there has been significant and positive decision making in the business (Blythe, 2009). This should be done appropriately by putting into consideration the major issues of all players in the business and ensure that their specific needs have been keenly noted, and then be addressed through the use of the very decisions which have been made unanimously within the business. It would thus be the greatest role of the business to ensure that management procedures are healthy and have the capability of leading to the greatest of profits in the business. This creates a healthy working condition, and in the very end ensuring that the greatest of gains have been realized in the business. As well, the leaders should ensure that they have been able to come up with ways of mentoring all individuals in the business, and such should be done in the right manner which ensures that the greatest involvement has been noted with the business stakeholders and all individuals who are employees in the business. The other important thing which should be adequately adopted is with the human resource which is another adoption which has the capability of having the greatest of gains within the business operations. At Apple, human resource management has been adopted and its engagement in the business has been very significant, thus leading to the realization of the greatest of goals within the operations of the business, and one of the major reasons why it has been able to become a major business player within the industry, and as well being able to compete with the major industries dealing in the same kind of business (Barney, 2009). Effect of Globalization and Management Across Borders As it can be agreed, management is something or a practice which is done beyond and across borders, and hence should be done in the appropriate manner which shall ensure that the greatest of gains have been achieved in the business (Czinkota & Ronkainen, 2010). In that sense, businesses shall be willing to invest across borders, and thus the kind of management which shall have to be adopted should be able to come up with varied engagements which solves the issues of management in such areas, and also ensure that customers in such areas have been provided with the necessary materials they would need (Lussier, 2008). In that case, globalization and management usually goes together and management operations have been able to go global so that globalization has been something very elemental. Basically, globalization and management are two elemental adoptions which have gone beyond borders so that business procedures can be done appropriately and at the very time be able to lead into the greatest of business gains. Since businesses shall be willing to develop and invest beyond borders, there has been this great need of ensuring that there has been the adoption of the major managerial adoptions and globalization which ensures that the rightful engagements have been put in place and such shall be able to lead to the greatest business developments (Reese, 2008). The effect of globalization and management is that the two have been able to result in the best of engagement which has the capability of bringing in the greatest of gains in business operations. This is something which has been adequately adopted by Apple Corporation and the reason it has become a leading business in the industry. Globalization is a new form of engagements and a wave which has been able to engage all possible adoptions which ensures that business operations have been able to go global, and by so doing ensuring that there have been wide adoptions which promote business operations across borders (Philip, 2003, p. 59). This has been rightfully achieved through engaging in different modalities in management, borrowing new concepts, and at the same time ensuring that all theoretical adoptions which fit in different societies have been adopted and borrowed for the appropriateness of business operations. Globalization has thus been noted as a new wave of engagement which has the capability of improving business operations, and more so when it has been able to adopt a number of management and operational theories which shall promote the realization of business goals (Brown & Moshavi, 2005, p. 869). This has also been the adoption which has been encouraged at Apple Corporation. Situation Analysis At Apple Inc., there has been the commitment of the most excellent practices in quality production and marketing (O’Grady, 2008, p. 64). The company has been able to develop its products and, therefore becoming one of the greatest performing businesses. Following the release of different brands of iPhones the company has attained its market share in the global point of view, and so attaining set goals. The domination of market share and production of quality brands is made possible through a business culture in the organization. The strength of its products for instance, the iPhone 4s is based on improved unique features. PESTEL Analysis In business, different analyses should be conducted before decisions are made (Harms & Credé, 2010, p. 11). At Apple Inc., an analysis should be done if the organization is ready to shift from an operational standpoint to improved customer service as a competitive differentiator. It is necessary for the organization to use PEST Analysis. This helps to locate the strategic plan, business and product development, and marketing for the benefit of the business. A PESTEL analysis is a helpful tool used to understand the marketing of products (Goleman, Boyatzis & McKee, 2002). The PESTEL analysis has been employed at Apple Inc. towards promoting sale of products. PESTEL is the short form for “Political, Economic, Sociological, Technological, Legal, and Environmental” factors (Campbell & Craig, 2009). The PESTEL analysis has been responding to the following: The political factors expected to affect the marketing of the new product The economic factors expected to affect the new product Sociological factors that are essential Technological changes that are likely to occur The he environmental reflections Political Factors Mostly, political factors are represented by particular area such as environmental law, labor, tax policy, and trade restrictions (Bovaird & Loffler, 2003). The Corporation will have to act in response to such aspects so as to qualify in marketing its new product. Economic Factors They define areas typical to the economy and clearly influenced by the economy. Such factors, which the company will have to put into consideration, encompass economic growth, inflation rate, and interest rate. Social Factors They are demographics, which take in aspects for instance, population, growth rate, age distribution, and cultural aspects (Fenwick, 2008). Putting these aspects in to consideration will form a benchmark from where the new product will be well marketed. Technological Factors These define automation, incentives, and the speed of technological change. The success of the new product that is, iPhone 4s in the market will be determined by these aspects. Legal Factors These denote the laws, which will be openly connected to the marketing of the new product in the global point of view. These laws consist of safety law, consumer law, and antitrust law. With the purpose of dominating global markets, Apple Inc. will be put into consideration such factors accordingly. Conclusion In conclusion, it would be necessary to come up with a number of recommendations on strategies that organizational managers and leaders can use to create and maintain a healthy organizational culture. To begin with, there should be the adoption of leadership skills which are theoretically proven as this will improve the aspect of mentoring and ensure that the greatest of gains have been realized in the business (O’Grady, 2008, p. 98). This ensures that there have been the adoptions of ways of mentoring and monitoring which leads to appropriate business engagements. As well, there can be organizational theories which come up with ways of improving leadership in the business, integrate planning procedures, and also engage promotional behavior. There should also be the need of ensuring that the business has adopted a number of approaches such as decisions making as part of management and leadership, and such shall be effective towards positive goals and results in the business (Pakhare, 2007). In short, it would be appropriate to adopt a number of approaches which relate to the ones which have been applied at Apple Corporation, and such shall be the rightful approach towards the realization of the greatest of goals and achievements in the business. This should also be done appropriately and ensure globalization has been encouraged in the business culture towards the best of business performance.
