The paper “From Socialism with Chinese Characteristics to Socialism of Chinese Characteristics” is an excellent example of the dissertation on macro & microeconomics. This dissertation seeks to find out if China has found the ‘correct’ path to development. To answer the main question, the dissertation will investigate how globalization has changed Chinese socialism, so much that it has transformed from being ‘socialism with Chinese characteristics’ to ‘socialism of Chinese characteristics’.

Research Questions
Has China found the ‘correct’ path to development?
How has globalization altered Chinese Socialism as initially conceptualized by Deng Xiaoping as ‘socialism with Chinese characteristics’?
Is the new form of socialism in China uniquely Chinese to the extent of being labeled ‘socialism of Chinese characteristics’, and if so, is that unique socialism exportable to other countries?
Methodology
This dissertation has used both primary and secondary data. The secondary data is mainly reflected in the literature review section and is also used in the analysis part. Primary data was on the other hand gathered through interviews conducted among selected insiders within government institutions and business organizations to determine the three research questions identified in the introductory part of the dissertation. Specifically, the author conducted one-on-one interviews with a sample of people, whom the author deemed to be knowledgeable in the Chinese development agenda. Due to the limitations of the one-to-one interviews, only a few people gave their opinions regarding the issues addressed in this paper.

The one-on-one interview was chosen for inclusion as a research method of data collection because of its reliability, and the fact that it enabled the author/researcher to focus on specific areas of interest. However, like any other primary data collection technique, conducting the interviews was time-consuming, expensive (in times of hours, and resources used trying to contact identified respondents) and hard to access (especially in cases where respondents were either unavailable or elusive). However, the interviews gave the author reliable and up-to-date information which is analyzed hereunder. The findings of the primary data collection method will then be analyzed based on the findings of previous authors or analysts as indicated in the literature review section.
