Assignment 5: Interviewing the Group The project is performed in order to get passed the of Business Communication and therefore, it is imperative for all of the group-members to have adequate level of communication skills. However, as a team-lead, I consider it my job to figure out the level of speech power each of my group-member possesses. Teamwork in the arena of business education needs two sorts of people and the first one had to have strong communicational skills that are required to present the project but the second type requires strong English writing skills which will become handy in terms of writing the project down. I am looking for people with either killer writing or speaking power and I am willing to let go of my higher expectations of communication skills if I come across an individual that has been blessed the power of expressing him or herself in the form of words. Writers are notorious for being poor communicators and because of this reason; I am pretty much ready to live with writers who cannot present adequately well. Nevertheless, I will have to work on writer’s ability to speak by letting them talk in front of the mirror. Secondly, I will let the teacher know in written that which members of my group actually drafted the final paper while telling the module leader about the group-members who collected data and information in the field. I strongly believe in specialization and I am well aware of the fact that everybody cannot do everything and that is why, I have to let people do what they can because they will be able to achieve excellent results while doing what they want to do. In the role of an interviewer, I will give people the opportunity to impress me and I will openly ask them that why should I take them into my group? The criteria of selection will be preset in my mind. I will select people with strong sense of confidence or with strong ability of writing. Additionally, I will opt taking an oral interview because of my need to see the confidence level and body language of the candidates before taking a final decision. I am a person who believes in human ability to grow and I am famous for giving people trust. I will not refrain from selecting people who are rejected by other teams so that my group can provide them with a chance to shine. Assignment 6: Gathering Opinion about use of Telecommunication Technologies in the Future The organizations and individuals are using internet, mobile-phones and other information technologies in order to have organizational and personal communications. However, the growing application of internet as a communication means has taken away human touch from the experience of socialization. According to Maslow’s theory of human needs, people need to have face to face communication with others in order to live a fulfilling life (Seeley, 315). Additionally, business professionals are big fans of using internet as it allows them to drive down communicational costs but it gives people the option to falsify their work and deceive the organizations. The profound CEO of Yahoo Marissa Mayer called off any offers that allowed people to work from home and asked everyone to join offices within first week of her positioning as leader of leading company which operate on internet. The decision to cancel telecommuting from Yahoo means that there are a few problems and issues with the practice and company needed to ensure that every participant is giving it his or her cent by cent and it is clear that employees who worked from homes did not perform well in the eyes of their new leader and based on the above discussion, it can be established that there are two groups when it comes down to treating online employment in the organizations. We conducted interviews of leaders of local companies about telecommuting and received following responses. Respondent 1: The internet is a smooth way to do the business in the world of the 21st century and it has the power to offer individuals and small companies to earn revenue. However, the internet allows people to do their job in their homes and it permits them to perform better. Respondent 2: Internet allows us to keep our employees operational while they move around the world but too much of that is not good because people get lazy with the passage of time. Respondent 3: The internet and online work takes the charm of working in an organization away as people get isolated in their homes and forget the skill working in groups and teams. Respondent 4: I am interested in results and I do not get tensed about the means by which things get done. Respondent 5: I want to keep my employees relaxed and get the best out of them. I am not bothered by the place from where my people are working until work continues.
