Extract of sample "The Prices of Goods and Service"

The prices of goods and service we purchase in the marketplace can have an elastic or inelastic demand. Three items I recently purchased are coffee, premium ice cream, and a ticket to watch an entertainment event. The first product coffee has an inelastic demand because its demand is not affected by price. The other two products have an elastic demand. If the Ice cream or the entertainment ticket would have been too expensive it would have been possible that I would not have purchased the items.
Price discrimination occurs when one customer is charged a different price for the same product at the same store. For example, universities are participants of price discrimination. International students get charged a higher price for education than American citizens. The Avatar 6:00 P.M. example also qualifies as price discrimination. The people that enter the first movie run which starts prior to 6:00 P.M. get a charge at times less than the people that go to the theater in the evening. Read More

Service-Dominant and Goods Dominant Products

...Introduction In general, scholars tend to agree that effective marketing of goods varies significantly from the tasks and considerations involved in marketing of services. As many companies are moving away from marketing individual products to complete service solutions, the focus, therefore, must be shifted. In the intensive tendency to globalization and technological innovation, the products now are viewed as a base for delivery of complete service solutions rather then the final tangible good. The matter is complicated with the fact that the service solutions intending to satisfy customer needs on a global level represent a combination of characteristics of both goods and services, whereas a separate marketing solution for successful...

This increase in food prices, in international market, is causing many nations to divert important resources for the procurement of the food items at much higher costs. Logistic service quality within the perishable goods

Communicating the importance of logistical activities to other functional activities, as well as to corporate officers, has been a difficult task. Professor Donald Bowersox, speaking at the council of logistics management annual conference in Toronto in 1999, described establishing the link between functional logistics performance and overall firm performance as our discipline's equivalent to finding a cure for cancer.
Definitive empirical results that link improvements in logistics performance to overall firm performance have been difficult to achieve. Some progress, however, has been made. Recently, Daugherty, Stank, and Ellinger (1998) conducted an in-depth assessment of the relationships among logistics service performanc...

The Growth of the Service Industry

The expansion of the service sector has unquestionably generated economic prosperity, but it has eminently contributed to social injustice and inequality. Consequently, I believe that while the growth of the service industry has great economic intuition, it is eventually socially detrimental and distancing society from achieving paradigms of social equilibrium.
Service, by definition, is the exchange of a commodity that has no tangible form; whereas industry is described as the people or organizations engaged in a particular type of enterprise. The service industry is then simply defined as an aggregation of commercial entities that provide services rather than physical objects. The non-material nature of services can be dist...

How Do Customers Assess Service Quality of Retailing Websites

Given the emergent nature of online commerce, it is a tough task for retailers to develop a website that meets all expectations from consumers. Some of these include “’ Availability’, ‘Can’t be in to receive delivery’, ‘Premium charged for delivery’, ‘Can’t see or feel the merchandise’, etc.” (Quader & Quader, 2008) These are not trivial complaints by any means and despite the e-retailing industry setting foot into its third decade in existence, there are no satisfactory solutions found for th...
