The basic purpose of a database is to save information about the students on computers so that college staff could find them in their database. In this scenario, they can easily find information about a specific student by entering his/her ID which was allotted to the student at the time of admission (Guimaraes, Murray, & Austin, 2007).

The database will allow the database administrator to set some privileges for the students or their parents who can enter or update information on their own. By entering this information into the database parents or students can find or see the information that they provided during admission to the college (Guimaraes, Murray, & Austin, 2007).

The use of the database will allow the staff members to find the desired information quickly. Because there is no need to open too many files for finding specific information. And also there is no need for paper and pencil work, and saving or transferring files from one place to another (Guimaraes, Murray, & Austin, 2007).

By creating a database both colleges and students get a number of benefits. In this scenario, one of the most important benefits is that both can improve their efficiency (Guimaraes, Murray, & Austin, 2007).

This is the information that can be collected by colleges for tracking information in a database.

Given below are some of the important business rules that must be kept in mind while creating a college database:
- Apply restrictions on wrong information.
- The student must not enter an invalid Social Security number in a database.
- For selecting elective subjects students must select their group.
- Date of Birth should contain constraint if the date of birth is crossed the limit according to requirement.
- Contact information should follow the format set by the database.

By entering all information into the DB students must fill in the complete admission form fields or application form fields for the course to which he/she applied in college.

Business rules using ERD:
1) Students have a first name and last name and students have only one SSN and many students have an SSN. Similarly for parents' SSNs.
2) Students can apply to one group or many groups, similarly, many students can apply to many groups.

Entities' names and their relationship must be included in the conceptual model and the following information should be included:
- A student can apply to many groups.
- A student has only one date of birth, and many students can have the same date of birth.
- A student has only one mobile number and one mobile number is given by only one student.
