George colt portrays the good of the family in a very humane way and it is amazing how a family could be so close over one single-family asset. The idea that comes to be is the virtual family and the fun it has if there is a good interaction. It is awesome how he sheds his thought in appreciating the town and the beach and sells the city in a way that everyone would feel the urge of visiting it. The novel instills the virtual of institutionalizing and how the family bond is important to overcome life challenges as well as obstacles.

This is clearly shown when the house is up for sale and the author share ideas with his cousin of repurchasing the house and repair it so that his children and the children to come could continue with the family history of a summer house that caught everyone’s attention. He, therefore, advocates for the virtues and it is upon every family to share that strong bond as the Atkinson's.On the contrary, wherever it is good, evil resides though it is very hidden. The author’s family seemed to be so close in continuing with a family tradition.

However, when it came to the idea of selling the house, the virtual was on the verge of breaking because not everyone was of the idea. It is when the author portrays how the family had committed so much evil that lay in its dark secrets. He revealed how the family had divorced couples, some engaged in social evils such as addiction to drugs and alcoholism. It was not a good show and above all, there was a business failure within the family. All these are the evils portrayed in the family because evil entails all negative attributes.

Finally, the book is very educative in presenting some if not all of the societal ills and things families do to live like enemies.
