Industrial Revolution led to the emergence of urbanization. This is because the emergence of factories and industries needed more laborers. People had to move from the countryside, going to cities for purposes of looking for work. On this basis, the population of cities expanded so much, creating an increase in other services such as entertainment, schools, hospitals, and agriculture. This led to an increase in the levels of production, making it possible for people to get income (Stearns, 2013). It is important to denote that urbanization also had some negative impacts. This includes competition for housing and sanitation facilities. This is because many people moved into urban areas, stretching the facilities available. Due to this stretching of these facilities, the living conditions in urban areas declined. This is because people were unable to easily satisfy their basic needs, which included food, water, and shelter (Stearns, 2013).   

Another consequence of the industrial revolution is the alteration of the family system. Before the industrial revolution, the majority of people lived in villages, working as either craftsman or in the field of agriculture.
