September 8, A Modest Proposal to Eliminate Binge Drinking on College Campuses As far as one’s forefathers could remember, as soon as alcoholic beverages have been categorized as prohibited for young people within a clearly specified age, binge drinking on college campus had already existed. One could ensue that the adolescent’s line of explorative and curious thinking provided the impetus for wanting to indulge in risky behavior and activities such as binge drinking. Since the devastating effects of drinking alcoholic beverages, such as inflicting social harm and being more preponderant to contracting diverse illnesses, do not preclude these college students from getting excessive amounts of alcohol into their system, one hereby proposes a course of action that aims to ultimately eliminate this precarious behavior.

There were studies that pinpointed some characteristics of binge drinkers: males more than females, within the age ranges of 15 to 16; of above average income level to afford buying alcohol and be enrolled in universities at the same time; with limited parental constraint; and who do not normally have a positive attitude about school. As such, one proposes that teen-agers who fall within these socio-demographic profiles should be gathered together and made to work on alcohol manufacturing organizations, which could provide them with incentives of drinking as much as they can, whenever they can, as long as this behavior would not preclude the normal performance of their duties.

If they are found to be negligent in any way, these teen-agers should be put to death to prevent social costs of having to cure future potential diseases from drinking, and from suffering social dilemma, such as criminal incidents, violent behavior, and generating unproductive returns to society. This proposal would evidently be more beneficial to society than the costs for having these teen-agers continue their lives after binge drinking.
