Mysterious Great Gatsby - Assignment Example

Nick goes to one of Gatsby’s loud parties.  No one knows how Gatsby got so rich.  Nick finds Jordan at the party and they look at Gatsby’s possessions which are on display.  When they meet Gatsby, Nick remembers he is someone Nick served with in the war.  Gatsby stays separate from his guests mostly.  The party breaks up around 2 and then Nick describes his everyday life.  He starts dating Jordan Baker even though he knows she is dishonest. Chapter 4 Nick tells about the wealthy people who go to Gatsby’s parties and then tells what Gatsby’s said about his past.

  Nick doesn’t believe Gatsby’s story and Gatsby introduces him to a corrupt man he knows in the city.  Later, Jordan tells Nick that Gatsby’s in love with Daisy and has been trying to win Daisy back with his wealth and wants her and Nick’s help.Chapter 5 When Nick goes home, Gatsby’s mansion is all lit up but there is no party. Nick agrees to help Gatsby meet with Daisy, but Gatsby offers to pay him which makes Nick uncomfortable.  Gatsby and Daisy are reunited but Nick thinks Gatsby has too high of an opinion of her but he leaves them alone with each other at the end of the chapter.

Chapter 6 Everyone still doesn’t know anything about Gatsby but Nick tells his real history.  He was really the uneducated son of poor parents but started working with a wealthy man and learned how to make his own money.  Tom and Gatsby meet and Gatsby reveals his bad social skills.  Although Tom’s suspicious, he and Daisy go to a party at Gatsby’s where no one has a good time.
