Bennett is primarily uninfluenced by what had happened last year and is as resolved as ever to get her daughter married to Mr. Bingley. The scene involves communication and thoughts of four characters, Jane, Elizabeth, Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Bennett. We trust the narrator because the feelings of one person do not overpower anyone else's. Elizabeth who is mainly prejudiced doesn't influence Jane's thoughts. Jane is fair and her feelings towards Mr. Bingley are more a result of his actions instead of Elizabeth's opinions.

Elizabeth on the other hand is rather overwhelmed by Jane's feelings because she knows its more Darcy's doing than anyone else's. She is upset for her sister and at the same time cannot help feeling deep resentment towards Darcy. Mr. Bennett's feelings can be trusted because it is in first person and there is no reason to doubt him. The same goes for Mrs. Bennett The passage has more dialogue than free indirect speech. The narrator's views are limited and thus case little influence on our interpretation.

However they do help us see that Jane is seriously disturbed and Mrs. Bennett is visibly excited and determined. The passage is not focalized except on the occasion when Elizabeth reminisces over some past event: Had she not seen him in Derbyshire, she might have supposed him capable of coming there, with no other view than what was acknowledged; but she still thought him partial to Jane, and she wavered as to the greater probability of his coming there with his friend's permission, or being bold enough to come without it.

This is where we can safely assume that our feelings were being moulded so we could sympathize with Jane and understand Elizabeth's opinions. The author uses some indirect speech to convey the feelings of Mrs. Bennett to us: His wife represented to him how absolutely necessary such an attention would be from all the neighbouring gentlemen, on his returning to Netherfield.The author has created an air of realism by focusing on the practices and customs of the time. But what gives a more genuine realistic picture by paying attention to feelings of different characters. Mrs. Bennett is deeply concerned about her daughters' marriages and wouldn't want a decent proposal to go out of hands.

For example Mrs. Bennett's feelings have been expressed both through omniscient voice of the narrator as well as first person views. Consoled by this resolution, she was the better able to bear her husband's incivility; though it was very mortifying to know that her neighbours might all see Mr. Bingley in consequence of it, before they did.The dialogue in this passage is limited to two lines exchanged between Mr. And Mrs. Bennett while the rest are first person expressions that are not stretched into a dialogue.

For example Jane's words that: , 'I saw you look at me to day, Lizzy, when my aunt told us of the present report; and I know I appeared distressed. But don't imagine it was from any silly causeare not met by a direct response from Elizabeth. Instead Elizabeth views are expressed through narrator as Elizabeth reminisces about something she saw earlier. Elizabeth's confusion is not expressed through direct speech. The author has used irony and sarcasm to further highlight Elizabeth's prejudice.
