The Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald - Book Report/Review Example

In Jon Meacham article in Time Magazine (2012), one could deduce the main theme as the American dream. In the summary of the article, the author speaks of how the concept of the American dream emanated. The article talks about some of the presidents and co-founders in making America having a dream of the country being prosperous one day. The same ideology got hold of people as they strived to become wealthy and live a decent life. Furthermore, the article continues to describe that the American dream received a number of challenges in the making and concluded that it gave people hope to work for a better tomorrow.

The author provides an example of how the American dream in 2008 became challenged by economic depressions, terrorism, and many other factors. Meacham (2012) refers to the American dream as false hope that keeps people going with a hope of better things to emanate in future.
