This essay focuses on describing fiction and crime fiction stories, that have imaginary characters, that do not exist in reality. The events made up in a story book or movies are all made to entertain the reader by the author. Facts, however, are information which inform the reader about events or keep them up to date about what happened with whom in reality.
In recent years, there has been a tremendous rise in the number of authors writing crime fiction. This essay mentiones authors without proper plots, who give in quickly, making it easier for the reader to guess what would be coming next. Crime fiction has been accepted widely and appreciated by readers instead of reading books on real life crime, articles or books. Differences between crime fiction and real life crimes are well analyzed in this essay, such as why fictional criminals are always found to be smarter than actual criminals and why fictional crimes are written by authors mostly only to entertain their audience by the mysteries.
Some advantages of fiction were explained, such as it builds up creativity in young children. Advantage of a crime fiction mentioned is that people would be more alert in their real life and would learn how to react and get out of difficult situations.
However, a few disadvantages are given too, such as fiction can be at time misleading and diverts the mind of the reader from right to wrong. For example the book “Da Vinci Code” was one of the bestselling novels, but it had a negative effect as it went too far to mislead the reader.

The science fiction genre is very diverse. One of the true classics is surely the famous novella War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. It is hard to believe that it was written at the end of the nineteenth century, long before our modern world of computers, spaceships and technology ever existed. This book introduces a rather formal unnamed narrator who describes in detail an invasion of the earth from the planet Mars.
The author states that rather than portraying to the audience the essence of the crime, crime shows are focused more on exploiting their own creative elements in depicting these crimes as dramatically and violently as they can, mostly in order to benefit ratings, rather than to display to the audience the true nature of these acts.
The fact that it is a progressive narrative, its application of heavy violence, and dialogues, enables it to surpass conventional films, and make an impression. Tarantino manages to efficiently stage manage cinematography, editing, mise-en-scence, in addition to sound to generate unique effects, shadow traits of the characters, maintain the suspense of events, and most importantly entertain (Jewers, 89).

“Science Fiction films have been with us since 1902, when Georges Melie’s 3 minute epic Le Voyage Dans La Lune took cinemagoers off the planet for the very first time. (Si-Fi Film History) (“Le Voyage Dans La Lune” means a trip to the moon.). While describing Science Fiction, Cramer (1994) states, “Science fiction allows us to understand and experience our past, present, and future in terms of an imagined future.” Though the genre is imaginary it just thrills the spectators and at the same time through dystopian representation of the future world, it conveys a valuable message to the audience.
The science fiction field has an origin, which goes far to a century ago. It grew from the fiction of authors like Mary Shelly, Brian Aldiss, and Robert Philmus. As a genre, it shows the dissimilarities between the real and the imaginary world. Moreover, it shows the position of humankind in the universe.
