Under the Irish constitution, the freedom of speech of individuals and the media is safeguarded through the inclusion of Irish courts. Thus, Irish courts play a fundamental role in ensuring that the freedom of speech among the media is safeguarded. Therefore freedom of speech is regarded as a political right about the process of communicating one’s views.

It involves the process of receiving and imparting information through the use of various media tools. The media tools in this case involved both the print and electronic media tools that are used as a means of passing on information to recipients. The media is therefore an important tool in passing on crucial information to the population that assists in the promotion of democracy within the context of society.
