Governments come and go, with others taking over. It is the same old war. It has never been easy devising particular ways of successfully freeing the world of the drug menace. It the game-plan for fighting the vice is not going to change, and governments and supporting agencies continue using the same old tactic, the winning the war on drug dealing, use and abuse will remain elusive.

The new ways shouldn’t be too obvious for the perpetrators of the vice; otherwise it goes on undeterred and unfettered (Nutt & Saulsbury, 2007). This milestone gives an insight into some of the best ways of successfully combating the crime to its very roots. Major points Some of the ways of dealing with the drug problem successfully with a view to ridding the universe of it include the following: I. Community policing Effective community policing involves some steps. the first thing to do towards achieving an effective community policing structure is to first educate the people on the manifest dangers of continued drug use and abuse.

It is generally known that before there is drug use and abuse, there is drug dealing. it would be appropriate to conduct civic education to get people to know how drug abuse can be destructive to a country’s economy. Economy is derailed when there many people who are engaged in constructive activities that generate income. It generates more dependency and the dependency syndrome puts pressure on an economy, weighing it down. Drug use also leads to rise in vices like robbery with violence, rape etc.

once people are made aware of all that, they take up the community policing on drug dealing and abuse as a matter of socio-economic importance and thus will report the crime as and when they are perpetrated (Charles, 2002). The benefits of the community policing approach include the following: A. Engages the people and makes them know the problems they have when the drug problem continues B. Making people know that if their neighbor’s child reforms from the drug problem, then their own child is safe because nobody is likely to influence and lure them into drug abuse C.

Discussing the drug abuse and addiction problem with the people makes it easy for them to relate the vice to slow pace of economic growth and the moral and social decay the societies grapple with today II. Secret Intelligence A secret intelligence involves having informers and planting them within the drug dealing chains. it will always be difficult to identify who is genuinely involved in the supply chain and who isn’t. It only takes one remaining faithful for some time with a view to identifying as many drug dealers as possible (Bartilow, 2009).

The only problem with this approach is that some of the people in the intelligence system may end up finding the drug dealing too lucrative to keep being informers they were intended to be. To avert such an eventuality, it is prudent to get people who have in the past shown genuine resolve in getting rid of the drug problem. It would be necessary to not expose such people or for those people not to show in any way, by way of behavior or otherwise, that they anti-drug peddling actors. This tact aims at netting the drug barons, as many of them as possible (Campbell, 2008).

Eliminating drug dealing will help with reducing abuse among youths within the economically and socially productive age brackets. Some of the advantages of this approach include the following: A. Very effective in terms of secretly identifying the fulcrum of drug-dealing problem, and some of the people controlling at the top B. It looks at the root of the drug problem. The root of the universal drug problem is drug dealing, not drug abuse. Dealing with drug dealing naturally reduces drug use and abuse because the drug supply chain is jeopardized C.
