In the process, a famous New Derby business person, Tracey Kendall, crushes her luxurious vehicle into a picturesque New England stonewall. While investigations are being carried out, apparent causes, for example, suicide, falling asleep, and heart attack are ruled out because she was conversing with her young son over the cell phone before the impact. In addition, the number of suspects increases when the good looking mechanic who worked on Tracey Kendall’s vehicle vanishes. The suspects include Tracey’s husband desperate art dealer, her unfaithful artist husband, her jealous best friend, and her greedy business associate.

The very open hunt for the mechanic and the eminence of the individuals being interrogated ignites the existing problematic relation between the district attorney and Ruth Murphy. The district attorney and Ruth Murphy have a common secret from their past life. This secret is extremely treacherous that Ruth Murphy pictures them in a gruesome dance, each of them holding a firearm at the other’s head. In the end, when the district attorney intensifies his campaign against the appointment of Ruth Murphy and holds back evidence from the investigation, Ruth Murphy is compelled to make a decision on whether discovering the truth is worth missing out on the job of her dreams (Ross, 2010).

Barbara Ross and her husband are the owners of the former Seafarer Inn at the head of the harbor in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Barbara Ross was elected as the co-chairperson of The New England Crime Bake of 2013. She is also the co-publisher and co-editor at the Level Best Books. Level Best Books creates an award-winning anthology of mystery and crime tales by New England writers every November. The Death of an Ambitious Woman was her foremost mystery novel which was put out by Cengage, Gale, or Five Star in August, 2010.

Prior to this, Barbara Ross was the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of two thriving start-ups in educational technology. Finally, Barbara Ross and her family reside in Somerville, Massachusetts. The book contains several strengths. One, the introductory scene in the first chapter captures the attention of the audience instantaneously. The author does not wait until the final scene in the book to illustrate the foremost details of the book. For example, she explains how Ruth Murphy has just made it to the final group in the selection procedure for the post of permanent chief of police in New Derby despite having a negative relationship with the district attorney.

Two, the author highlights several captivating events which keep the reader focused on the story line, for example, the vanishing of the good looking mechanic who worked on Tracey Kendall’s vehicle (Ross, 2010). Two, the story has tremendous supporting characters that make the story line even more thrilling. The author introduces several suspects in Tracey Kendall’s accident to keep the audience guessing. Three, the eminence of the suspect list in Tracey’s case reignites the tense association between Ruth Murphy and the district attorney.

There are also several weaknesses in the book. This book may not fascinate an individual who has a liking for the puzzle components of mystery tales. If literary mystery, atmosphere, terror, or literary thrills are what capture your attention, this is not your reading. This is because the book has no twists and goes directly to the point. The mystery is not that difficult to tackle. Two,
