Personal ment: Fine art and design Majoring in fine arts and design has been, and will remain, to be one of my greatest passions in the field of study, since taking a journey in art and design means following an un-ending path; simply because it is hard to know or see and even to discover all that exists in nature. The sweet thing about art and design is that, you will tend to find yourself ten years down the line still trying to discover new things, getting inspired and excited by some of the most ordinary things, interrogation of the media that we are exposed to; whether based on the CD cover, a window display, the room layout or even the shoe lines and shapes. For most of us that choose to specialize in arts and design, it is not mainly taken neither as a career nor a hobby, but basically as a passion or a way of life. We all have got different world views, and taking a moment to look at my surrounding makes my mind to start buzzing with creative ideas and imaginations about my physical surroundings. From the look of things, my future seems to be having art and design as an anchor. I would wish and hope that after completion of my first degree, I would go on with my studies in my passionate and chosen field so as to establish a professional hustle out of art and design. I cannot possibly imagine specializing in any other field of study - regardless of their reputations - without ever being linked to the art and design community, whereby utilization of greater levels of talent and creativity is the main basis. Because of art and design being a passion for those who opt to major in, I have a strong belief that its students actually do dedicate their hearts and souls towards their work and even push themselves to an extra mile if possible. When I was still in my portfolio itinerary, I was mostly captured into exploring the various disciplines, mixing and color experimentation, light, textures, and other varying ranges of mediums and effects, such that I automatically found myself studying and doing assignments ahead, simply out of curiosity and pure enjoyment. Currently, I work in retail, and hence I jump at a clear opportunity diving into any form of art project such as designing adverts, window dressing, and even shop display for our advertising, shop display, and window dressing within this occupation. Also, I do commissioned work on a personal basis that I really love. I love being with a project that maintains my focus at all times, so as to give me proper basis of focus and objectives and to input my unlimited ideas into. In addition, Im doing a part time study in fashion and design due to the feeling that it has been my main passion after being subjected to all the other disciplines and varieties in the art and design sector thereby enhancing my level of exposure. What mostly captivates me about this discipline is that, it is very flexible and hence offers a greater opportunity for making lucrative combination with other fields such as, photography, painting, graphic design or even other simpler things such as use of print for textile designs. It also works towards allowing me to both create and design my work in a three dimension format. Generally, I love the process of designing but the most rewarding is the act of using my hands in accomplishing a finished product or target. Since my childhood, art and design has been one of the most integral part and direction of my life, ranging from offering assistance in various design tasks and making of the costumes and sets for school plays. The most vital aspect for me in life is the act of keeping in touch with the art and design community, since it is a community whereby no matter your background is or where you live in, you tend to interact with likeminded people thereby discussing views, exchanging ideas, learning new things, and finding new artists as well as seeing new exhibitions. Watching either local or international live bands play also happens to be something of my great inspiration and enjoyment since it encompasses a wide range of creativity. My view towards music is of no difference with my view towards art and design. This is due to the fact that, it is comprised of simple beats and riffs all linked together to various orders and timings, thereby creating a piece of work that can be delivered with great passion and energy. So, I have great respect for each and every individual who shares and explores that gift and talent with other people. Likewise, photography and cinema hold the same characteristics and qualities for me. The main idea here is to capture a still image that can be somehow ordinary, and can make it appear in a different limelight, thereby granting the viewer an insight towards how things are viewed so as to make the ordinary extraordinary and to deliver it for all to see. My decision to study abroad is basically for the sake of meeting new people and discovery of a different culture, adjust my entire surrounding and moving outside the comfort zone, which is the main aim and objective of most people. There is no right or wrong in art and it can be translated a million different ways. So, frankly speaking, I have a proof that art and design is one of my greatest passions in life and pursuing it as my core course will be my greatest step towards achieving my objective, and fulfilling my dreams in life. This is due to the fact that the practicability of this discipline is very captivating, hence creating a sense of passion, and a pulling effect towards exploring its concepts. All in all, Art is not only a career choice, but it is mainly taken as a life choice. It is my ultimate choice and will always remain to be. Read More
