Evidently, android can be defined as an operating system which is derived from the Linux kennel design kind of system. On that note, this operating system is intended for use in touch screen devices for instance smart phone and tablets. It is worth noting that the operating system was developed by Android Inc which in the subsequent years was bought by the Google enterprise in 2005(Toly, 36). In addition to that, the operating system was officially released in the year 2007 which was in line with the unveiling of the open Handset Alliance. Apparently, the open handset alliance can be characterised as a consortium of telecommunication companies aimed at promoting the open standards of mobile technology. Incidentally, the first mobile device using the android technology was the HTC dream which was unleashed in the year 2008(Davis &Guy, 74). On the contrary, the android user interface uses the basic concept of direct manipulation. Furthermore, with the aid of touch input which are made to resemble the real world actions for instance the swiping, tapping among other techniques to control the objects visible in the screen of the device. Moreover, other additional internal hardware is used by some android applications to act appropriately based on the user’s requirement for instance the adjusting of the screen depending on the screens orientation(Gookin &Dan, 69). Apparently, some of these internal hardware components include the accelerometer, gyroscopes among other components that are supported by the android technology. Moreover, the android technology allows the user to customize the home screen with the aid widgets which enable the display of live contents for instance the weather among other information. In addition, the android operating system also relays relevant information to the user for instance new text messages and email among other important notifications(Davis &Guy, 39). However, it is worth noting that the android system is not only used in mobile phones only but also in game consoles and television sets thus has a wide application. Essentially, in android systems, MVC is deficient but the system encompasses the following instead. First and foremost, the user defines the user interface in a variety of XML files on the basis of resolution, hardware or any other characteristic. In addition, the user also defines the resource in a variety of XML file on the basis of the locale(Toly, 74). Thirdly, the user extends classes for instance the listactivity, tabactivity and puts into consideration the XML file based on the inflaters. On the same point, it is worth noting that one can create as many classes as possible for business logic. On the other hand, it is important to note that the devices that use the android system vary in the sizes particularly of the screen. However, this fact does not affect the functioning of the system since it is made to automatically adjust depending of the screen size of the device in use. On the contrary, the resolution of the two devices may be different, since the bigger the screen the more the resolution and therefore clarity in the output(Gookin &Dan, 60). Apparently, this can be attributed to the number of pixel in the screen. On that note, the more pixels on the screen suggest the high resolution of the screen. Notably, in the area of the security of the application in the android system, applications can be said to be secure. On that note, applications in the android system run in the sand box which is an isolates region of the system(Toly, 30). Apparently, this region does not have access to the rest of the systems resources with the exception of the cases in which permission is garneted by the user when the application is installed. Notably, before the installation of an application in the android system, the play store relays all the permissions that are required for the installation. Evidently, the sand boxing and permission technique are methods incorporated in a bid to prevent bugs in application and also averts the impacts of the vulnerability of the system(Gookin &Dan, 58). However, instances where developers offer minimal information in applications has resulted in the requesting of unnecessary permissions which have served to reduce the effectiveness of the system. On the other hand, in order to curb this, Google championed an update to Android, a verify applications feature which is mandated with the role of detecting malicious processes in the background and shutting them down. In addition to that, the App Ops which is a piracy and application control system was developed by Google with the sole purpose of enabling the android devices to manage and install applications and also to grant permission to the installed applications(Toly, 59). However, in the subsequent years the features use was restricted terming it as not user friendly, in other words it did not follow the instructions of the end user. Notably, currently, the tool is accessible only through the root access of the mobile device. In contradiction, research has shown that the security threat posed by the use of android device has risen exponential with time(Gookin &Dan, 42). On that note, the use of malware application to survey victim among other reasons are on the top of the list in this category. However, Google engineers have refuted these claims terming it as an exaggeration on the part of the security companies with the aim of gaining from the result. In summation, the android system has both the negative and positive attribute in the security sector. However, the positive clearly outweigh the negative aspect. It goes without noticing that android applications are developed based of the java programming language. On that note, the language is hugely influenced by the software development kit (SDK) is an essential part in the creation of the applications for this system(Toly, 23). Apparently, the SDK purposes to generate applications that extend the functions of android devices. In addition, the SDK encompasses a group of dedicated development tools which are inclusive of the debugger, software libraries, and sample code among other features. Evidently, an emulator can be defined as a tool either software or hardware that duplicates the functions of one systems in to another which is the host. Notably, this has come in handy in the development of android applications(Toly, 12). Apparently, emulation applications are created with the sole purpose of duplicating functionality of one android device into another for instance console emulator for gaming purposes(Toly, 37). An eclipse in the android world can be defined as the integrated development environment which contains the work space and the plug-ins necessary for the customization of the environment. Notably, it is majorly uses the java language and is used for the development of android applications with the aid of the variety of plug-ins available. However, the eclipse has been used in the android systems to also develop applications in other programming languages for instance Ada(Gookin &Dan, 23). Lastly, the SQLite can be described as the relational database management system encompassed the C programming language. On that note, it is used for the storage of data in application software for instance the web browser and also in operating systems such as android. Evidently, the SQLite governed by the SQL-92 features however, it is deficient of some of the features (Davis &Guy, 78). To this end, the SQLite database comes in handy in the storage of information in the android system thus it is essential to study it in order to get to know more about the android technology.
