Self-Organizing Learning Experience The roles were assigned in our group based on our own preferences. We found this to be the best way to assign group roles because it meant that everyone could do what they wanted and it would help the group to succeed. Most of the roles were assigned without any hassle, but there was one role that proved to be difficult to assign. Two group members wanted the same role. The rest of us who did not want that role had to decide between those two people. We made our decision based on who we thought would work the hardest.
A downside of this was that the group member who we did not choose for that role had to take another role that he did not want. It was easy to see that he was not interested in that role, and this slowed down the progress of the group at the beginning. In my experience a lot of patience is needed for an effective self-organizing learning environment. The reason is that sometimes there can be frustration over the role assignment process. Also, compromise is definitely required because there can sometimes be arguments over group roles.
Success can be measured by how far the group has progressed since the beginning. Every group has difficulties or struggles, but the key thing is to overcome those problems because success will be defined by this response.Self-organization is the ability to organize oneself without the need for outside input. The principle of this skill is based on discipline and clear decision making because without these things self-organization would not be possible.
