Statement of purpose - Admission/Application Essay Example

Purpose ment My intention is to pursue a Masters Degree in Computer Science at the of North America. I would like to shed some light unto my career. I always fancied with computers since I was a young child and thought of how I could become a software engineer. A career in engineering actually seemed the most challenging and a logical extension in my abilities. I was given some basic training on operations and applications of computer in my school days. Since then I have learned different computer concepts at different levels.

I have vast knowledge in QBasic, Word, and C Fundamentals. I have valued science since my school days and topped the class on several occasions. I have been an active member of the Quiz Club which has won several competitions. After high school, I was determined in securing a position in IT field. I joined one of the renowned universities where I accomplished my undergraduate course in IT. To accomplish my degree program, I was forced to qualify in several course work and project work. First I qualified in EAMCET Entrance Exams at the university.

I therefore secured a good rank in that exam and qualified for a seat in the Computer Science Engineering. I also had the opportunity to learn most of the theoretical fundamentals of application of computer. I learned topics like Computer Organization, Microprocessor Applications and Digital Logic Design which expanded my theoretical knowledge. I also managed to learn some of the practical aspects of computer like Data Structure, concepts on Object Oriented Programming and Internet Technologies.

During my studies, Computer Communications, E-Commerce Application and Software Engineering are areas which I have laid emphasis. While in my undergraduate, I interacted with some of the well known professors. I had the opportunity to undertake a live project at BPL Mobile Ltd. I accomplished the project called “Mobile High Roaming Alert” which was implemented by the company and is done in Oracle and VB. I have also managed to design a palm size platform stabilizer by the use of Pic Microchip and a sonar module by use of Motorola 68Hc12.

I have a seven year experience at CSX, AETNA and World Bank. Therefore, the next step to achieve my career goals is to pursue a master’s degree program in computer science. I have done a vast research in the area to pursue my post graduate program and North University is my choice. The university has a good curriculum after a research on its programs and advice from my senior lecturers. I believe that the Masters’ Degree will satisfy my urge as a software engineer.
