Converting a Network It is important to convert to a new network in an organization because, with new advents in technology, it has become necessary to introduce networks that are efficient and proficient in their work. In the case scenario here, this company is using a network that has a ring topography consisting of UTP cables that use the token passing access method. This system has also been used to join two ring portions by use of hubs. Nodes that have been connected to this network normally use ISA NICS.

However, due to its setbacks, the company intends to use the CMSA/CD method since it has various merits as compared to the present one that consists of UTP cables.CSMA/CD is extensively used as the commonest access method on LANs. CSMA stands for Carrier- Sense Multiple Access/ Collision Detection. The first bit, Carrier- Sense implies that the network interface card that is located on each computer is able to sense cable traffic before sending it. Multiple Access implies that all computers in a network are able to have access to the cable at anytime.

Collision Detection implies that, even though collisions will occur, the computer systems are able to detect that such collisions have occurred. Hence, it becomes possible for such organizations so resend data in case a collision has occurred. Therefore, changing of this network is going to bring about noteworthy returns since it is more proficient than the original. Besides, it is much more reliable, hence stakeholders need to go ahead with the network change. Works CitedWilliam, Smith. CSMA/CD.
