IP address design and planning is a network management task that has to be well structured and regularly conducted to monitor the progress of the organization’s technology growth. The IP addressing scheme of the First National bank of Monroe is a hybrid of static and dynamic IP address allocations. First, the problem of IP address conflict, where a machine is dynamically assigned an IP address that is already statically configured on a workstation. Also, if the servers have a dynamic IP address, the workstations may not locate the servers for the resources and file sharing effectively.

Additionally, adding a new workstation on the network is difficult due to the limited size of the network.Changing the IP address assignment for the network should be a comprehensive and well-planned task. To begin with, the administrator needs to design static IP addresses outside the range of the DHCP servers’ address pool. Then to change the IP properties, the administrator will right-click on the Network Connections icon on the desktop then choose open. From that window, right-click on the local area network (LAN) window and select properties.

Choose, ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’, from the dialog box and click on properties. The dialog box that pops up gives the options of manually entering an IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS. Alternatively, you can select Obtain address automatically to allow the use of the DHCP address assignment. Finally, you have to select, ’Ok’, and,’Close’, on the dialog boxes to save the configuration.Modifying addressing the properties of each office remotely is not possible; this is because the addressing and the operating system are tied together.

It is possible to access computer files and directories remotely using the Remote Desktop Connection feature on Windows XP. However, changing the IP address properties can only be done on network terminals that use the servers’ central processing unit, but not workstations with their own processing units.
