?Findings and Conclusions 3.0. Findings and Conclusions Rock climbing is a sport of its own and different people usually consider ita unique sport. It is currently growing popularity among the youth; however, the popularity grows at a very slow rate. The popularity is considered to be increase due to the introduction of advanced climbing techniques and materials (Luebben, 2006). Some of the facts that are related to the increased climbing as a sporting activity include changes in behaviors of customers, arrival of new climbing destinations, and increasing trend in the climbing activities especially during holidays (Kidd, Hazelrigs, and Wilderness Education Association (U.S.), 2009). Nonetheless, this sporting activity seems not to be popular among university student and the research was carried to determine their attitude towards the sport and how the same could be increased among the same students. The research was carried through interviews. 3.1. Findings From the findings as indicated in the figure 1 above, it is apparent among the 20 students who participated in the study most of them were those who registered for the diploma studies. Statistically, 14 were registered for diploma studies, 5 were registered for the foundation studies, and only one registered for EAP. 3.1.2. Conclusion Students registered for diploma has the more free time to participate in the study than students perusing other courses. Notably, rock climbing has not become a popular sporting activity among students since the climbing sites are never around schools among other learning institutions. Additionally, of the students usually consider rock climbing as dangerous activity (Hill, 2007). Therefore, other students never wanted to participate since they might have regarded that the entire excise could have been a waste time since they knew less or virtually nothing regarding rock climbing. This statistics indicates that there are needs to promote the sport among the student even those who feel that they are too busy and committed in their studies. 3.2. Findings It apparent from the graph 2 and table 2 above those different students from different ethnicity perceive the different sporting activity. From the table 2 above, only China, Korea, and India showed a significant participation in the research at figure of 4 for student from china and 3 students each for Korea and India. 3.2.2. Conclusion This indicate that different students form different ethnicity or country perceive research activity in different ways. Some of the student perceives research as means of development through understanding the research question through participation. However, some students usually consider research work as a waste of time and they may convert such time into other useful activities (Hill, 2007). Additionally, different nations usually have different perception to different sporting activities. Therefore, some will tend to understand sporting activities through research especially that affect their citizens directly. For instance, student from Brazil are expected to focus match on research involving football as opposed to rock climbing and this indicates why only one student participated in the research (Kidd, Hazelrigs, and Wilderness Education Association (U.S.), 2009). The same reason may apply to other students; moreover, it is worth noting that students from certain countries never value sporting activities and that result above support their poor participation. 3.3. Finding It is apparent that the numerous students who participated in the research have never participated in the rock climbing activities. Only 3 of the 20 participants have ever engaged in rock climbing. 3.3.2. Conclusion People are usually afraid to involve themselves in rock climbing due to the associated activities in the mountain climbing (Luebben, 2006). The climbing rock activities have been known be dangerous and may lead to great injuries and death of the participants. However, the increased technology and equipment that have increased safety and stability as well as certainty of the climbing activities will increase the number of participants in the activity (Hill, 2007). Additionally, the participants are supposed to be trained on safety measures so they may certain of their moves during the rock climbing activities. The same techniques and trainings will also enhance the safety of other participants since in some cases; a participant may lead to the injuries among other threats to other participants (Kidd, Hazelrigs, and Wilderness Education Association (U.S.), 2009). 3.4. 4. Finding From the above statistics from the table and the graph 4, it is apparent that nearly equal numbers of students are very interested as those who are interested. Cumulatively, there are many students who are willing to participate in the rock climbing. However, 10 percent of the participants did not know whether to participate in rock climbing or not. Moreover, only one participant was not interested. 3.4.2. Conclusion For many years rock climbing has remained a dangerous sporting activity since technological advancement in the sporting wears has never been concentrated on the same. However, current numerous equipment and techniques have been introduced that make rock climbing activity safe sporting activity (Luebben and Collins, 2005). Therefore, introducing the same concept to the participants, they are now convinced that involving themselves in such activity is not dangerous and they will participate without injuries. This show the high number of responded who are willing to participate in the rock climbing activity. 3.5. Finding When the participants were asked that to what extent do they agree with statement “that rock climbing would improve students overall mental and physical health” (questionnaire). Most of them agreed that the rock climbing would improve a student’s overall metal and physical health. 3.5.2. Conclusion Rock climbing is a physical activity that also involves the use of brain especially to maneuver safely through the dangerous hedges of the sharp and deformed rocks. Therefore, being involving the use of muscles and the brain, it is a sure activity that will improves the participants’ physical and mental health. 3.6. 6. Findings A large number of the participants stated that would be comfortable to seek such information from cricket coach followed by a statistical group that felt it is vital to seek rock climbing information through library research. The third group was confident with internet research. 3.6.2. Conclusion Cricket is a dangerous game and involves tactics and use of energy just as it is expected to be in the rock climbing. Therefore, the participants may be right to seek rock climbing information from the cricket coach (Oxlade, 2003). Cricket players usually use a lot of energy and maintain the same energy throughout the game, in the same way, the rock climbers are expected to use a lot of energy and to maintain the same energy throughout the climbing otherwise, and they may fall off the rope. Therefore, the cricket coach is a vital figure to consult. 3.7. Finding From the above statistics, numerous participants agreed to the fact that rock climbing is a sure means of increasing both mental and physical health. With equal magnitude, quite a number of participants noted that rock climbing is means of gaining experience and making new friends. Only a few of the participants agreed to the fact that rock climbing is a means to face fears. 3.7.2. Conclusion The rock climbing has been states involve the use of energy that strains the body and it also needs the use of the brain. Combination of these elements makes it vital in the development of physical and mental health of the participants (Oxlade, 2003). Additionally, it usually attract participants from different parts of the country, institutions, and regions among other localities; thus, increased friendship network. Finally, depending on the participant’s career, it’s a means through they can gain experience for other sporting and life events. 3. 10. Findings The above table 10 and graph 10 indicate that participants suggested that all the listed methods are viable to encouraging university students to participate in rock climbing, but with different magnitude. However, the majority thought that creating rock climbing teams that would enhance competition is the most appropriate way of encouraging rock climbing among students. The other preferred alternatives were giving points to the participants and adding it to QUTs' gym. However, very few participants think that Creating free trips as a demo would encourage students into rock climbing. 3.10.1. Conclusion It is apparent that giving discount to students sporting activity that the do not have interest in will not encourage them to get involved in the activity itself. Many people like competing; therefore, creating rock climbing teams that would participation in competition will encourage participations in the activities. As means of competition, other students will be encouraged to join the sport. It is through the same competitions that participants will be awarded points among other rewards. Finally, gymnastics will make students physically fit for the rock climbing activities; thus, adding it to QUTs' gym will encourage especially students going to gym to participate in rock climbing. 3.11. Finding The table 11 and graph 11 above shows that different activities have different influencing effects of the students to participate in rock climbing activities. However, providing needed equipment is the most likely activity to encourage students to participate in rock climbing. Providing free transportation and providing free training sessions are other aspects that are likely to encourage students to participate in crock climbing in equal measure. 3.11.2. Conclusion Different people usually have different motivational activities; therefore, students are likely to be influenced along different activities. Mass transportation of students is likely to encourage students to participate in rock climbing due to mass effect of students’ psychology that are greatly influenced by the same. However, training of students should have taken the center stage since it is a means of increasing their safety during the rock climbing event. Nonetheless, providing needed equipment for rock climbing event will surely encourage students to participate to the activity since most of these equipment are expensive and students may not place them in their budget priority list. Therefore, providing the same will increase students’ participation in rock climbing. 3.12. Suggestions on how Rock Climbing Can compete Other Famous Sports From the research work, it is apparent that rock climbing is never common among the youth or the students among other sport men. Notably, the rock climbing has since been regarded as a dangerous and injurious activity that exposes participants to life threats. Therefore, improving on this sport is to bring in safe techniques and equipment that will ensure the activities involved in the sport are carried without exposing the participants to any danger. Additionally, the participants should be trained on the safe modes or techniques that reduce their chances of being injured. Finally, for the rock climbing to be listed among other sporting activities, the climbing sites must be made safe and the sport should be rewarding just like other sporting activities. Rocks are never friendly to the human skin; thus, physical attires should be invented that rock climbers should use as protective gears. Implementation of these recommendations among others that may be available will make the rock climbing equally competitive and famous among other sports and sporting activities. References Hill, P.
