Additionally, most of the workflow management system products, do not support workflows that require functionality and data in legacy HAD systems. For instance it does not address efficiency HAD system merger and interoperability (Means & Adams, 2005). Similarly, it does not guarantee the accuracy and consistency of workflow executed in the occurrence of a concurrency and malfunction. The workflow study also involves different sections across the multiple disciplines. This disciplines included the field of computer-human interaction, imaging, databases and the field of computer supported cooperative work (CSCW).

Lack of interdisciplinary workflow study has delayed the establishment of a common consideration or an acceptance of different perspectives. For example, a person studying the database, is able clarify workflow as information process while not considering the human aspect of the business process implementation.
