? Information Systems Have Revolutionised the Way We Work s: Information Systems Have Revolutionised the Way We Work Technology is rapidly altering the way people undertake various operations in their daily life; in fact, it includes use of internet, and computers and other electronic media, which have a substantial impact on people’s lives around the world (Misa, 2011, 20). Internet and computers have facilitated the change in means of communication among people of different people, whereby communication and accessibility of information is effective. Therefore, people are able to communicate and share their ideas from different parts of the world, hence creating an opportunity for people knowing about other countries. Technology is considered a major component of human activities; besides, there is a theory of technological determinism, which contends that technology is a determinant of the direction of cultural advancement, though it does not determine growth of social foundation. Moreover, there are assumptions that technological innovation is considered a driving force behind the social chances, hence establishing the social actors and relations (Hanks, 2009, 23). Nevertheless, this paper will present a discussion to support the motion that information systems have revolutionised the way people work. Technology is considered practical application of knowledge in an urbanized way in which improves the human life. Technology has a greater influence on the society in various dimensions. This has led to finding ways of doing things more efficiently and effectively. This is due to the application of some devices like computers. On the other hand, Revolution refers to the gradual increase complexity as time goes by things change within the perspective of technology improving (Eisenstein, 2002, 87). This is due to the increased innovation through the application of knowledge in order to come up with new things. Technology has altered the way of thinking, ideas, values and the vision of the world, whereby those who use computers and internet tend to serve as channels for transmitting the given values systems (Hanks, 2009, 24). In this way, people change their lives by imitating the foreign lifestyle and this result to a wipe out of the traditional values of the subjects, hence becoming the instrument of cultural alienation (Hanks, 2009, 25). Feature of technology relates to patterns of social consumption and establishment of consumer logic in developing countries leading to the change of cultures (Pacey, 1985, 12). However, technology has been associated with negative cultural aspects, whereby it also results to transmission of bad culture, which affects people negatively. Information systems through the internet by use of computers has influenced their behaviours in a way that alters the way individual identifies and recognizes the social sphere of action, tradition cultures, values systems and factors of social harmony (Hanks, 2009, 26). There are special cultural identities to members of a certain community that relates to the need for endogenous developing, whereby there s a compulsory process of social evolution and change that results to the establishment of values and models of external behaviours (Hanks, 2009, 26). These behaviours are inspired by the advent of foreign technologies and cultural systems. For instance, communication through the internet has established ability to transmit sounds and images across the world, thus leading to reproduction of altered face of contemporary culture, and this influence the way people work (Grint and Woolgar, 1997, 20). Science has a substantial role in the modern life with a profound impact on the civilization of human beings. Information systems have lead to the provision of remarkable insights in the modern world. It resulted from scientific revolution in the 20th century, which marked a quantum leap to the modern world (Lara, 2010, 3). This led to many technologies and the development of various devices and machines that have helped human beings to make work easier (Grint and Woolgar, 1997, 21). Therefore, evolution technologies have been fostered by integration of civilization and the way of life in order to articulate the changes that are brought by the technology. This has been achieving after a long period of time through researches in order to gather a lot of knowledge that assist to bring these developments. Various scientific discoveries have been achieved through significant scientific development foundations through information systems. This has led to various achievements in various fields like Architecture, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, astronomy. The modern world has assimilated to various scientific ideas from various parts of the world leading to globalization. This makes information systems related discovery in one part of the world being spread to numerous parts of the world. In order to understand the impact of the information systems in the modern world there is the need to commence with focusing on the period before technology. This will depict the difference in the period before and after the introduction of technology in the world. These have been the revolution of the long period of time that has been evident in the developments form time to time (Jonhs, 2002, 106). Before the world had access to information systems, there were many challenges involved in different fields. There were challenges in the field of business, medicine, engineering, and others. It took a lot of time and work force to complete a task that is done today with very insignificant employment of resources (Grint and Woolgar, 1997, 24). In the field of business, there were challenges to the customers and buyers in terms of communication. It was also cumbersome to keep records of business transactions. This led to a lot of time wastage and consumption of space. In another field like medicine, there were many challenges since patients could not access good health care facilities like nowadays. Many people used to lose their lives or suffer from different illness. There were ways that could have assisted in diagnosis of various diseases. Therefore, people used to be treated only for the illness that the doctor identifies. However, information systems have influenced people, and this has led to human being increasing their reliance on technology. It is evident that the uses of information systems have made life easier for human beings. People who embrace the existence of information systems are dependent on for doing almost everything by use of the technology. The use of information systems in areas like engineering has led to the establishment of advanced ways of construction, machinery and various developments. Through the integration of technology to different areas of services and production, efficiency has been guaranteed. Information systems have led to the provision of better services in different providing firms and businesses. It has led to easy retrieval of data regarding the work therefore making the services to be very effective in these organizations (Grint and Woolgar, 1997, 24). The business process has been made possible through effective communication between the customers and business owners. This has also led to the improvement of working conditions and made easier to make reliable decisions through the basis of information. Therefore, people are able to increase their productivity in a very effective way. There are numerous benefits related to availability of modern technological tools that have made is possible to perform the tasks that were considered to be impossible. The invention internet, it was the beginning of the most remarkable technology that has helped the human beings in a very recognized way (Misa, 2011, 21). Technology have been a determining factor of the to the society’s way to civilization. It also helps to make communication quicker thus; connectivity is high towards creating a globalized society. Technology has a substantial role also in school systems; in fact, it has assisted numerous students to do their work more effectively and efficiently (Grint and Woolgar, 1997, 26). Information systems in computers provide the internet that assists the student to get access to reliable information (Misa, 2011, 22). Students are able to research information for their projects and assignment; in fact, there are programs in this computer that enable teachers to compute the marks in order to evaluate the performance of various students. Various programs are used by students to analyze data collected from researches in order to come up with reliable recommendations and conclusions in their research papers. The computers also make the tackling and submitting of assignments easy; thus, a student is able to do their homework and submit it in time. Information systems have lead to the development of educational software that enables individuals to achieve fundamental skills. This is through online reading facilitated by access of relevant information in the online libraries. The other application of technology has been in the field of medicine where patients suffering from various illnesses use technology to facilitate the well-being of their life. The Ipad and computers are assisting parents with children suffering from autism in terms of communication. Autistic children are able to interact with the device after a little training, and this assists to ease the communication between the parents and the autistic children. Information systems have led to improvement of children with this condition, and it is offering a chance for them to learn things and communicate to others. Communities affected with the condition are turning to the use of the Ipad with their autistic children. These children spend a lot of time to use the tablet in order to focus on the tasks given to them. This task is aimed at improving their skills of learning. Bearing in mind the difficulty involved in getting the attention of the autistic child the parents are impressed by the ease involved when they incorporate these devices in the communications. Through these IPads, technology has managed to make a remarkable difference in the situations faced by the parents of these autistic children. The parents are faced by this challenge every day by trying to communicate with their children. This technology offers the opportunity for them to interact with them and understand how they feel about certain issues. This can help the kids to develop intellectually through interaction with the people around them. Therefore, this technology is assisting these children to communicate and socialize with other people more easily that before. The technology is also evident through how it affects the world for those who are deaf including the autistic children. Deaf individuals are able to converse via computers and the mobile phones; besides, information systems have affected the lives these autistic children through learning and interaction with other children around the world. Therefore, it is very important to integrate this form of technology to the learning programs of these kids. Technology have been integrated in various fields and made life easier even to those that are handicapped. Therefore, it the evolution of technology has led to much invention that has come to help even those who have disabilities. Technologies have developed to suit the requirements of human beings, and this is because of the inventions that are based on the needs of the human beings. Different people invent various things in order to ease the activities that are cumbersome to them. Through this way, something is invented by the use of the knowledge that is acquired in school. There have been groups of individuals that are involved in endless researches in order to invent new inventions. The technology field is very dynamic, and different people are inventing new things day in day out. Information systems have made people to change the way they live due to the influence of this technology advancement. Technology has been considered very significant to the human beings; in fact, people have integrated information systems in almost everything that they are doing. This has led to the development of various devices that are customized in order to fit our needs. Therefore, it is evident technology is still advancing people are still creating new things in order to cope with the dynamic changes of people’s perception. As time goes by various devices and inventions become absolute due to either the further development of the same device or a substitute being developed for the same device. Therefore, there is a very high competition in the world's market in terms of technological products. This is due to the active involvement in researches and development in trying to come up with new things that better suits the human needs. Information systems have been for many years focused on raising the quality of life for different individuals. Therefore, it is like a cycle that is endless; in fact, different individuals will continue to invent new things due to the development of human brains with time.
