This project paper describes the windows blind Ecommerce website. Windows blind has three different users with different privileges. The first section of the paper describes the situation analysis of the paper. Under the situation analysis, we look at the target market needs which describe the target group of the ecommerce website and how the website is going to help them automate their transactions. This section also describes the market demographics. Market demographics describe the segmentation of the market in terms of age, income gender and society. The last thing under the first part is business growth and competitive analysis. Under this,we look at the competitors of the business and how the website quality and technical specifications will allow it exist in the market segment. It also describes the strategic assessment of the customers’ needs. The next section describes the functional requirements of windows blind website. This incorporates what the system can and must do. Each deliverable is described in details on the basis of the functions to be implemented. This section also lists down all the users and their tasks are also elaborated. The functional specifications are further divided into technical specifications and the non-technical specification. The technical specification directly addresses the requirements of the website while the non-technical specifications assist the technical specification in the realization of the objectives described in the first section. The final section presents aaa description of the site map and the user testing framework. The site map shows all the pages and sections available in the website. It also describes the basic functionalities of the website. It also includes the technical specification documentation and the dimensions of ecommerce security which must be realized by any ecommerce website. These dimensions include authenticity, confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation and availability. The paper describes how windows blind website achieves all these dimensions. Introduction Windows blind ecommerce website is a website which automates business transactions and that deals in IT products. Its processes are in position to achieve five dimensions of ecommerce security which are confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, non-repudiation and availability. Windows blind has three different users with different privileges. These users are the visitors (non-registered users), customers (registered users) and the administrators. Once the visitors enter the site they are expected to register. Registration involves filling of forms or provision of user credential which are eventually stored in the central database for the next login attempts by the registered users. Integrity is the ability to ensure that data being displayed on a network or being transmitted or received over the Internet has not been altered in anyway by an unauthorized party. An e-commerce customer can examine message integrity if the contents are questionable and out of character for the person who sent it. The system administrator must deal with the issues of integrity when determining who should have authority to change data. The more people with authority to change data, the greater the threat of integrity both outside and inside Non repudiation is the ability to ensure that ecommerce parties do not deny their online actions. Windows Blind ecommerce website achieves non repudiation by the use of an arbitrator which implements the public key cryptography to ensure that a client or customer is authenticated before any transaction. Confidentiality on the other hand is the ability to ensure that the message sent across the website reaches the intended recipient. Windows blind website achieves confidentiality by a process known as secure electronic transaction. This process requires that the transacting party obtains a public key from a trusted certificate authority. Situation analysis Presented is an ecommerce website known as windows blind website. Here Visitors can see and browse publicly the available features such as products, details of products, size, color and prices) Visitors can also view other static contents of site. A user can either be registered or non-registered. Registered users have the ability to view all the features that are publicly available as well as purchasing the products simply by adding them into their shopping cart. A non-registered user can register by entering details on the registration module/section. These details are saved in the central database in order to authenticate the user during the next login attempts. The Admin can manage all the contents and Orders from the Backend (administrator side). The users of this website are visitors (non-registered users), customers (registered users) and administrators. Target Market Needs The target market needs or the client needs are to increase the purchasing opportunities of the buyer and the selling opportunities of the seller, by making the website available all the time, shortening the procurement cycle, ensuring product, and marketing information are always up to date, and creating a room for competitive bidding of prices of products in which windows blind is dealing in.( Marcy, 13) Windows blind also ensures that the website is available in global scale even in remote areas. Market Demographics Phelps presents market demographics as the segmentation of the market in ecommerce on the basis of age, sex, income and population. People of a certain age tend to be interested in particular types of goods or services provided by an ecommerce website like windows blind. In this context, if the target population consists of old people, then windows blind administrators will advertise products suited to the population. (pg 21) Purchase of items can also be characterized by a gender. E. g female are attracted to cosmetics and they are attracted to ecommerce websites that sell these products. The target needs of the windows blind ecommerce website is to reach to IT people since it markets IT products. Our statistics state that most men surf the internet at night that women based on the fact that most orders for products made by men are always made during night hours. (Phelps 21) In addition it has been observed that most orders are made by people who are employed and who receive a durational income. The number of women purchasing IT products is more than the number of men. Customers purchase these products individually since windows blind does not have a provision for group coupons. (Phelps 21) Market Growth and Competitive Analysis According Phelps market growth and competitive analysis looks at the competitors of the business and how the website quality and technical specifications will enable it survive in the market segment. It also describes the strategic assessment of the customers’ needs. (pg 24)Windows blind has several competitors offering similar products and substitute products. Windows blind survives in this competition because it is highly ranked in the search engine. It is easily accessible from the internet since it captures a wide market population through social media marketing. SWOT analysis According to Ratnasingam (pg 10), SWOT analysis presents a useful method that provides a deeper understanding of an organization’s strength and weaknesses in addition to the opportunities available to them and the threats they face. Ratnasingam (pg 10) states that the analysis helps an organization or an enterprise carve a suitable niche in the competitive market.. Pauline notes that the strengths and weaknesses usually resides within the organization and can easily be manipulated while the opportunities and threats are external factor usually beyond the much control of the organization. Swot analysis seeks to find the advantages and the factors that makes an organization different from others within the same market and utilizes that advantage for its own gain.( Ratnasingam 12) For windows Blind ecommerce website, the strengths may include its availability given the fact that it is available 24 hours a day 7 days in a week. Windows blind ecommerce website is also highly ranked in the search engine because it captures a large customer base through social media marketing. This makes it easily accessible and hence more customers can make purchases on windows blind compared to other competitors. It also provides shipment services to its customers globally. Once a customer makes an order, a pro-forma invoice is sent to the customer and once the customer agrees to the prices an invoice is sent to the customer. The customer makes payment against each item in the invoice. Once the transaction is authenticated, the administrators organize for shipment services. Windows blind is also accessible by handset devices. This gives it an advantage over its competitors in terms of accessibility. It is designed in a way to facilitate quick loading by handset devices. When customers enter the uniform resource locator, the server detects whether the request is coming from a handset device or a computer, then it displays the web pages based on that. Pauline notes that Swot analysis, analyzes the weaknesses of an organization or enterprise through the identification of those factors and areas within the enterprise that can undergo improvement or those that can avoided. (pg 15) Some of the weaknesses of windows blind ecommerce website are that the website experiences 40% of down time in a year while other website has a lower percentage of down times. This leads to much loss due to unavailability of the website. Windows blind also does not have a provision for group coupons. Coupons can only be purchased individually. Other ecommerce websites allow people to purchase expensive products in groups. This shifts customers to other websites hence leading to loss of profit. When customers move to other service providers, windows blind spends a lot of money in maximizing its potential strength hence remaining with a very small profit margin. Some of the opportunities for windows blind ecommerce website are the upcoming IT companies which are yet to purchase products, software firms, countries with growing ICT, developing countries, corporate with long procurement cycle, Market monopolies, single private industrial networks, industry consortia, warehouses, government to government portals, and business to customer portals. Some of the threats that windows blind ecommerce websites have are government policies which limits the trade across boundaries by use of heavy taxation on some goods, competitors who produce similar goods (direct competitors), competitors who produce substitute goods (indirect competitors), and external environment which influence the marketability of IT products. If the population has many computer literates then the products are likely to be marketed since it goes beyond a narrow physical space. Since windows blind services are extended by a corporate that ensures the delivery of products, it is also influenced by the corporate policies. Functional specification and the process flow diagram The website should be able to perform the above functions. Site map Home Page This is the main page of the website, like the entry point of the website and must be made as attractive as possible while still keeping the intention of the site clear to the user. It is usually integrated with such advert campaigns such as Logo, Slideshow and Banners. List of latest products available with details like product title, Image view, and links for Login and Sign Up are also on the home page. Clicking on any link will take the user to that particular page. Product Display Click on image will display information of product as well as choice of different sizes if available.The products details can also be viewed with Image on Product Detail page. Shopping Cart You can add the products to the art by clicking the option ‘add to cart’. Once the products are added to the shopping cart, the customer can place an order against each of the items. View Price Charts Visitor can browse the Price Charts for the products based on the Price Calculation. View Cart Clicking on this option will display products added on to the cart by the customer. Login Section Before the users are allowed to view the reast of the website, they enter their log in details at this section for verification after which they can proceed to the rest of the website.The user must be authenticated before viewing the required page. Registration This section allows New Users to create new registration account on the Site. The details entered by the user are stored in the database.
