There is much to be written about Mr. Stonewall Jackson, but to summarize quite briefly, he is considered to be on the most successful and respected commanders of the military in U.S. history. Sadly, his life ended prematurely as he was shot by his own troops and died shortly after from a bout with pneumonia as a result.Jackson was in the Confederate Army and served as a general. He was involved in countless battles, but perhaps the most famous is the First Battle of Bull Run, where his troops were victorious and he earned the nickname of “Stonewall”.

Hood was a general in the Confederate Army and was known by his troops to be brave and aggressive. Many took these signs to note that he was also quite reckless at times. In the end, he is now considered to have been of the best brigade and division commanders in the entire Confederate Army. One famous battle he was a part of was the Seven Days Battles. This took place in 1862 and he did such a great job that Robert Lee promoted Hood to division commander immediately following the end of the battle.Mr. Johnston was born in Kentucky and lived to the age of 59.

He died in Tennessee. Johnston lived most of his life in Texas and was actually quite well educated. He ended up at West Point and earned a commission as brevet second lieutenant in the 2nd U.S. infantry.Albert Johnston actually served in three different armies during his lifetime: the Texas Army, the United States Army, and then as a general in the Confederate Army. He did not see much action during the Civil War, as he was killed early on during the Battle of Shiloh. He ended up being the highest-ranking officer on either side of the war to be killed.

Nathaniel Banks was born in Massachusetts and died there as well, at the age of 78. In addition to his career in the army, Banks was something of a career political having served both as a governor and a member of the House of Representatives.
