History Primary Differences between Carthage and Rome There are fundamental differences between the Carthage and Rome, which relate to the arrangement in terms of the general forms; Rome had a different constitution in regard to war of the Hannibal, whereby Roman constitution was considered better than Carthaginian constitution (Polybius, 67). In addition, the Romans employed armies that were composed of citizens and people in their country while Carthaginians used foreign mercenaries; thus, making the Roman government be more preferred that Carthaginians.
The other difference relates to the confidence of both Romans and Carthaginians, whereby the Romans entrusted their confidence on their own bravery and help of their friends while Carthaginians had a lot of confidence on the preservation of liberty in care of their venal troops. Romans had a conviction that those who were defeated had the ability to renew their war while Carthaginians a believed that armies are repaired through many difficulties. Nevertheless, the Romans appeared to be inferior to Carthaginians, but their persistence was derived through a spirit of becoming superior to their enemies in order to protect their children and women. In fact, despite the lack of skills and expertise in naval knowledge, the Romans were able to achieve their war objectives due to their bravery.
2. Developments Described in these Readings that Undermines the Medieval World and Lay the Foundations for the Modern World
Some of the developments described in the readings that seem to undermine the mediaeval world are the tribulation experienced by Anon after deliverance of the King of Navarre. These tribulations were experienced in the monarchy of France in places such as in Laonnois, the river of Marne and Beauvoisin, and this was a period attributed to villages lacking leaders, whereby they were gathered in Beauvoisin (Froissart, 1). Moreover, there was a shame on the realm attributed to destruction of immense wealth since the knights had gathered together with no counsel and armor. In fact, their houses were attacked, and their wives and children were killed. Another instance involved a knight whose wife and daughter were raped while he was watching; they were all killed and the castle burnt down. In this case, these are some of the acts described in the reading occurred during the Medieval World, and they are undermining the era.
